Job Title: Mechanical Designer

Job Description

This role supports the mechanical engineering team by creating and maintaining detailed designs for automated material handling and robotics systems. The position focuses on translating engineering concepts into production-ready drawings, managing revisions, and maintaining accurate design documentation. This is a design support role, ideal for someone strong in CAD who enjoys working closely with engineers rather than owning full system design.

Responsibilities

• Create and modify 3D models and detailed drawings using SolidWorks.
• Develop fabrication, assembly, and installation drawings.
• Update existing designs based on redlines, engineering feedback, and project changes.
• Maintain bills of materials (BOMs) and ensure accuracy between drawings and ERP systems.
• Manage design files, revisions, and documentation within PDM or PLM systems.
• Collaborate with engineers to turn concepts into manufacturable designs.
• Incorporate input from manufacturing, quality, and field teams to improve designs.
• Ensure drawings follow internal standards and are clear for production.
• Support configure to order projects by adjusting designs to meet customer requirements.

Essential Skills

• 2+ years of experience in mechanical design or drafting.
• Strong proficiency in SolidWorks or similar 3D CAD software.
• Experience creating detailed fabrication and assembly drawings.
• Ability to interpret engineering prints and specifications.
• Understanding of manufacturing processes such as fabrication, sheet metal, or assemblies.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• Experience working in automation, material handling, or equipment design environments.
• Familiarity with ERP systems and BOM management.
• Experience with PDM or PLM systems and revision control.
• Knowledge of design for manufacturability principles.

Work Environment

Office environment, on-site, with working hours from 8 AM to 5 PM

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Maryland Heights, MO.

The pay range for this position is $28.85 - $40.87/hr.

This is a fully onsite position in Maryland Heights,MO.
