Staff Accountant – Real Estate
National Realty Corporation is looking for an accountant to join our team. If you have solid general accounting experience, you don't need a real estate background to apply. We're happy to teach you the property side.
What You'll Do
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements for your assigned properties
- Handle accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger entries, and bank reconciliations
- Check tenant leases to make sure rent, CAM charges, utilities, and other recoveries are billed correctly
- Process security deposits, move-ins/move-outs, and related lease adjustments
- Help prepare CAM and real estate tax reconciliations and tenant billings
- Support budgeting and forecasting for property operations and capital projects
- Maintain fixed asset schedules and track capital projects
- Follow internal controls and accounting policies
- Work with property managers, leasing teams, and leadership to resolve tenant and vendor questions
- Assist with audits, tax filings, and lender reporting
- Provide financial analysis to support acquisitions, sales, and refinancing
What We're Looking For
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
- 3+ years of accounting experience in any industry (real estate or property management is a plus, but not required)
- Experience with accounting software; property management systems like Yardi, MRI, Infor, or AppFolio are helpful, but we'll train you on ours
- Solid Excel skills (pivot tables, VLOOKUPs, formulas)
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to juggle multiple priorities and meet deadlines
- Clear, friendly communication skills
Nice to Have
- Experience with CAM reconciliations, real estate tax, or utility billing
- Familiarity with commercial or residential leases
