Incorporated in 1889, Pacific Grove is a Charter City operating under the Council-Manager form of government. The seven-member City Council appoints the City Manager, City Attorney, and members of the City's advisory boards and commissions. As a tourism-dependent community, the City must thoughtfully address the fiscal challenges associated with maintaining and improving aging infrastructure while preserving its unique character and exceptional quality of life. The City Manager is responsible for planning, organizing, and directing the overall administrative activities of the City as well as advising and implementing the City Council’s policies and goals. The City of Pacific Grove is seeking a calm, level-headed, and visionary leader to serve as its next City Manager. The salary for the previous City Manager was $266,468; the salary for the incoming City Manager is negotiable and based on qualifications and experience.
