Join Our Team as a Shipping Clerk!The Shipping Clerk performs the physical or administrative tasks involved in the shipping, receiving, storing, distributing and order fulfillment of merchandise, products, materials, parts, supplies and equipment. Checks goods received and for distribution against purchase orders or invoices, maintains records of goods and rejects unsatisfactory items. Packages and prepares products and merchandise for final shipment and posts weights and shipping charges. Lifts heavy items and may operate a forklift. Prepares and maintains records of merchandise shipped. Reviews customer orders, examines, stocks and distributes merchandise, products and materials in inventory warehouses, distribution centers or manufacturing lines.Location: Onsite - Lansing, MISchedule: Monday-Friday 7:00am-3:30pmEssential Duties and Responsibilities Employee needs to be able to demonstrate an advanced knowledge of and proficient ability to complete all listed job tasks:Safely operate all necessary distribution equipmentAble to train coworkers on all necessary distribution equipmentUnderstanding of bar code scanner to include:Picking ordersInventory look upInventory transfersHow to keep, save, and load an orderSmall Parcel: UPS, Fed-Ex, DHL shipmentsCheck order for accuracyComplete paperwork properlyProperly pack basic packages per work instructionsTrained and can perform special product packaging requirementsRun packages through shipping stationPerform international and domestic shipments via small parcel carrierPerform international and domestic freight quotesTrained on how to pull, box, and ship all temperature-controlled itemsTrained on how to handle all Hazmat shipmentsComplete AES/ITN number for UPS shipmentsPallet orders: LTLUnderstanding of picking a pallet order to checkPick accuratelyProper product layeringFace out product labelsCase count labellingPack loose items properlyCheck order for accuracyPallet orders: TL/ Large ordersPick accuratelyUnderstand special distributor requirements such as: (expiration dates, case quantity requirements, lot separation, palletizing requirements, keeping same items together, packing and labelling of gravity flow items)Check order for accuracyPack all loose or easily damaged items properlyComplete paperwork properlyPrint address labels for multiple pallet shipmentsInternational ShipmentsUnderstands the use of heat-treated palletsCustomer packaging requirementsInternational packing listCommercial invoicesSpecial customer requirementsGravity flow items packaged and labelledNo partial casesNo split lotsExpiration date requirementsPrint address labels for multiple pallet shipmentsJob Requirements/Qualifications To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required.High School Diploma or GED.Ability to interface with management regarding duties and future development of department.Minimum of two years documented distribution/ warehouse experience in an outbound or inbound function.RF scanner experience desired but not requiredForklift certification desired but not requiredAbility to read, analyze and interpret common shipping reports and regulatory documents regarding shipping. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies or members of the business community. Ability to effectively present information to lower-level management.Ability to work with basic mathematical concepts such as addition, subtraction, multiplication, division and averaging.Some experience with UPS World Ship online with the ability to learn more.Physical Demands The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
