Position Summary The Senior Accountant plays a key role in managing monthly close processes, delivering accurate financial reporting, and advising clients on business performance. You’ll work directly with business owners, CFOs, and leadership teams, transforming financial data into actionable insights. The right person for this role is extremely polished. We take an advisor-first approach valuing relationships with our clients. To excel in this role, you must be bright AND kind. This is a client-facing role with a mix of technical accounting work, financial analysis, and relationship management. You’ll also provide mentorship and technical guidance to junior team members, ensuring consistency and quality across engagements. Key Responsibilities Lead Month-End Close & Financial Reporting Manage the monthly close process for a portfolio of clients. Prepare and review financial statements, KPI dashboards, and budget-to-actual analyses. Oversee reconciliations for bank accounts, credit cards, payroll, and intercompany transactions. Provide Strategic Client Support Translate complex financial data into clear, actionable business insights. Collaborate with the CFO Advisory team to identify trends, risks, and opportunities. Participate in monthly and quarterly financial review meetings with clients. Maintain and Improve Processes Create and refine standard operating procedures and close checklists. Support onboarding for new clients, including chart of accounts setup and process documentation. Bringing forth process improvements for both AdvisorOne internally and our clients. Ensure accuracy and timeliness of deliverables while meeting deadlines. Team Collaboration & Mentorship Review junior staff’s work, providing feedback and technical expertise. Share best practices to improve efficiency, accuracy, and client experience. Qualifications Required Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA preferred) 5+ years of relevant accounting experience (public accounting or client advisory experience a plus) Advanced knowledge of GAAP, accrual, cash, and modified cash accounting Proficiency in QuickBooks Online, Xero and cloud-based accounting tools (Bill.com, Ramp, Brex, etc.) Excellent written and verbal communication skills with a focus on client interaction Strong analytical skills and attention to detail Ability to manage multiple client engagements in a fast-paced environment Preferred Experience in an advisory-focused or startup environment Familiarity with QuickBooks Desktop / Enterprise migrations to QBO Prior team leadership or mentorship experience Why Join AdvisorOne At AdvisorOne, you’ll be part of a tech-forward, advisory-first firm that values relationships as much as results.
