Payroll Clerk

We are seeking a detail-oriented Payroll Processer to manage end-to-end payroll operations in a fast-paced environment. This role is responsible for ensuring accurate and timely payroll processing, maintaining compliance with payroll regulations, and supporting employees with payroll-related inquiries. The ideal candidate will have strong analytical skills, experience with multiple payroll systems, and the ability to handle sensitive information with discretion.

Key Responsibilities

• Process full-cycle payroll, including wage calculations, deductions, garnishments, and tax withholdings
• Manage payroll activities such as retroactive pay adjustments, time analysis, and year-end processing
• Maintain and update payroll records and HRIS data accurately
• Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll regulations and tax laws
• Reconcile payroll discrepancies and resolve employee payroll inquiries in a timely manner
• Support internal and external audits, including documentation and reporting requirements
• Generate payroll reports and assist with compliance and financial reporting
• Work across multiple payroll systems and tools to manage data effectively
• Collaborate with HR, finance, and other internal teams to ensure smooth payroll operations

Qualifications

• Minimum 2+ years of payroll processing experience , including garnishments, taxes, and year-end activities
• High School Diploma required; Associates or Bachelors degree preferred (Accounting, Business, or related field)
• FPC or CPP certification preferred
• Proficiency in payroll systems, specifically Oracle Cloud, PeopleSoft, and ADP
• Intermediate to advanced Microsoft Office skills , particularly Excel
• Ability to manage multiple systems simultaneously
• Strong analytical skills , including retroactive pay calculations and time analysis
• High level of accuracy and attention to detail
• Ability to handle confidential and sensitive employee data
• Solid understanding of payroll regulations, tax laws, and compliance requirements
• Effective communication skills with internal teams and employees
• 35-hour work week with flexibility for alternating Friday shifts (6am2pm or 10am6pm)
• Ability to work onsite at the hospital

Important Details:

• 5-week contract position (extensions available)
• Shift is 7 hrs shift Mon - Fri (8:00 AM-4:00 PM), 35 hrs/week
• Location is New York, NY 10004
• Pay Range for Locals: $25 - $30 per hour
