Senior Park Worker Mildale Farm/SWR

Job Description This role involves park maintenance and field-level supervision for Mildale Farm facilities and associated parks. The supervisor works closely with the assistant park manager and the SW Region manager, overseeing daily operations, crew management, customer service, and equipment maintenance. Essential Duties Position performs park maintenance and field level supervision for Mildale Farm facilities including but not limited to boat dock and ramp, restrooms, shelter house, picnic areas, playgrounds, hiking and biking trails, and other outdoor activities. Daily supervises, directs, and assists crews in completing assignments at Mildale Farm and the SW Region; trains new crew members; coordinates overall daily tasks; consults with vendors, designers and planners on projects involving grounds, landscaping and maintenance; ensures safety standards are met. Work directly with facilities rentals department, managing a calendar of events at Mildale Farm. Provide customer service to rental customers at Mildale Farm; lead staff and develop staff that prioritize customer service. Operate vehicles and powered equipment; complete commercial mowing and snow removal; apply chemicals and spread fertilizers, herbicides and soil amendments; mulch tree beds, plant trees and flowers; aerate and seed landscaping; trim and prune shrubs and trees; repair soil erosion; manage turf and chemical applications; help with prescribed fires in the SW region. Perform various tasks requiring equipment, vehicle, and tool operation; use a variety of small and large tools and operate a variety of light and medium duty equipment and attachments including tractors, trucks, dump trucks, skid steer loader, water trucks, compact rollers, excavator, power boom, boom truck, and snow removal equipment; perform general and routine maintenance of light and medium duty equipment. Verify request for goods and services against County contracts and funding sources; order goods or services and follow-up/resolves discrepancies and ensure delivery; ensure appropriate routing and approval of purchase requests; complete and submit paperwork, timesheets and equipment logs. Complete and approve paperwork, help with timesheets, work orders, and equipment logs using computerized system; follow purchasing card guidelines and complete approval process. Provide on call and weekend rotational support for Mildale Farm and the SW Region. Supervisory Responsibilities This position is responsible for the supervision and leadership of employees, which includes making employment-related decisions and/or recommendations, and helping in evaluating performance. Duties and responsibilities may be added, deleted or changed at any time at the discretion of management, formally or informally, either verbally or in writing. Scheduling and shift assignments and work location may be changed at any time, as required by business necessity. Minimum Job Requirements High school diploma or equivalent. Preferred Job Requirements Five years' experience in parks and recreation with field supervisory experience. Education/Experience Substitutions Experience may be substituted for degree.
