Turn electrical schematics into finished products that power real-world applications! As a Panel Technician, you'll build and wire custom industrial control panels and OEM equipment while developing your skills alongside a team committed to quality and craftsmanship.

Salary Range: $16 - $22/hour based on experience

Panel Technician Essential Responsibilities

• Build custom industrial panels and OEM products meeting delivery dates
• Work independently with the project folder and design schematics to complete your responsible job.
• Account for parts required for the job
• Mechanically layout and mount hardware components.
• Wire complete panel in accordance with PFT panel procedures, UL508A specifications, and other best practices as given by the panel shop supervisor.
• In large project situations work with other technicians in a team effort
• Test custom industrial control panels and OEM products
• Point to point wire tests in accordance with PFT testing procedures
• Torque check and marking in accordance with PFT procedures
• Be able to perform and fill out the PFT Panel Final Check list
• Maintain a neat and orderly work area at all times
• Organize and maintain shop tools and equipment
• Organize and maintain personal tools
• Organize and maintain your project items and materials
• Help maintain common shop supplies IE labels, wire ties, wire, etc.
• Assist apprentices and other technicians in techniques and procedures

Panel Technician Necessary Qualifications

• Electrical experience
• BOCES Electrical or AS in an Electrical Technology Field preferred
• Must be able to follow and understand the PFT shop guidelines
• Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and mechanical drawings
• Ability to read and interpret technical manuals
• Ability to work with other technicians and apprentices in a professional manner
• Competent with the use of hand tools, i.e. jigsaw, drills, wrenches, screwdrivers
• Competent with the use of electrical test equipment, i.e. multi meter
• Valid and clean driver's license to operate company vehicles as needed

Panel Technician Physical Requirements

• Ability to stand for up to 8 hours
• Ability to lift 50 pounds
• Ability to work on elevated platforms
• Ability to climb ladders
• This position may require standing, stooping, bending, kneeling, crouching and/or reaching
• You may be exposed to dust, loud noises, and hot and cold conditions
• Good hand-eye coordination and fine motor skills may be required for hand tools, power tools, and other machinery
