This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Financial Clearance Specialist based in the United States.
This role plays a critical part in ensuring patients receive clear, accurate, and timely financial information prior to scheduled healthcare services.
You will act as a key point of contact for patients, helping verify insurance eligibility, calculate financial responsibility, and support upfront collections in a high-volume healthcare environment.
The position requires strong attention to detail and the ability to navigate multiple systems while maintaining a high standard of customer service.
You will contribute directly to improving patient experience by ensuring transparency around cost share and financial obligations.
Working in a fast-paced call center setting, you will collaborate with internal teams and hospital stakeholders to ensure accurate scheduling and account handling.
This role blends patient engagement, insurance verification, and revenue cycle support in a mission-driven healthcare environment.
You will help ensure operational efficiency while maintaining compassion and professionalism in every patient interaction.
Accountabilities:
- Provide high-quality customer service to patients by following structured benefit verification processes and ensuring accurate financial communication.
- Verify insurance eligibility, assign correct insurance plans, and document findings accurately within healthcare systems and workflows.
- Calculate patient financial responsibility and attempt timely collection of cost share or liabilities prior to date of service.
- Ensure accurate selection of medical records and appropriate scheduling based on physician orders and clinical guidelines.
- Maintain detailed and compliant documentation across health information systems and workflow platforms.
- Communicate effectively with hospital teams, gatekeepers, and internal stakeholders to ensure coordination of patient financial clearance.
- Meet or exceed performance expectations related to quality, productivity, and call scoring standards within established timelines.
- Support adherence to organizational policies, procedures, and compliance requirements while maintaining patient confidentiality.
Requirements:
- 2+ years of experience in a call center environment, preferably with collections or healthcare billing exposure.
- Associate’s degree preferred or equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
- Strong knowledge of insurance verification, medical billing, or healthcare revenue cycle processes is highly desirable.
- Excellent communication skills with a customer-focused, empathetic, and professional approach.
- Ability to work in a high-volume, performance-driven environment while maintaining accuracy and attention to detail.
- Proficiency in computer systems, multiple applications, and MS Office tools; typing speed of approximately 45 WPM.
- Strong organizational and multitasking skills with the ability to manage time effectively.
- Demonstrated adaptability, dependability, and willingness to learn new systems and processes.
- Interest in improving processes and openness to innovation, including the use of new technologies such as AI tools.
