IACT Community Engagement Coordinator – Hillel at the University of Delaware Hillel at the University of Delaware is seeking a full‑time IACT Coordinator for Israel Engagement. This position focuses on engaging students in Jewish life on campus before and after their Birthright Israel experiences, building leadership and creating vibrant connections to Israel and Jewish culture. Role Overview The IACT Coordinator will recruit, coordinate, and train Birthright Israel trip staff, foster ongoing campus activities for participants, and implement strategic initiatives to deepen students’ Jewish and Israel engagement. What You’ll Do Recruit and support 200+ students annually for Birthright Israel, Onward Israel, and other immersive Israel travel experiences. Serve as primary staff for Birthright Israel trips each season; recruit, coordinate, and train additional staff members from the UD community. Engage participants in ongoing campus Israeli education, advocacy, community service, and Jewish learning; develop personalized follow‑up plans for alumni. Manage the Instagram account (over 1.2K followers). Transform campus Jewish life, using the Birthright cohort as a core group to engage others. Develop relationships with students from key campus demographics to support Israel engagement. Oversee Blue Hens for Israel student leadership team and a robust group of interns. Collaborate with the Community Shaliach to bring Israel life to campus. Maintain event and attendance records for measurement and ongoing evaluation (website, weekly emails, social media). Develop and implement a strategic blueprint for Israel engagement. Increase awareness of current Israel issues. Utilize data and partner with students and Hillel professionals to build a strategic approach to Jewish life and community. Build and track at least 200 new relationships per year. Cultivate one‑on‑one relationships with Jewish students by meeting them where they live, work, or study, using creative methods. Participate in weekly Hillel staff programs, Shabbat, and holiday activities. On a Day to Day Basis You Will Facilitate meetings of Birthright Israel interns, reviewing strategy and recruiting prospective participants. Meet with students interested in Israel travel experiences, identify their interests, and connect them with leaders or additional information. Spend time on campus recruiting interns and students in public spaces. Meet with colleagues to discuss recruitment and follow‑up strategy for Onward Israel and Birthright Israel. Document interactions in the database and send follow‑up or check‑in emails to students. Support student events, such as inviting new students to coffee meetings. What You’ll Bring to the Job 0–3 years of professional work experience and a bachelor’s degree. Self‑driven, motivated, and energetic with enthusiasm for Israel programming and travel. Confidence in initiating and running programs; comfortable asking questions. Excellent follow‑through and the ability to multitask. Strong project management skills with multiple moving parts, timetables, and deadlines. Prior travel experience in Israel and familiarity with Israel and Judaism. Excellent organizational, written, and verbal communication skills. Experience with Jewish education and outreach. BA or equivalent. Proven leadership skills and capacity for effective teamwork and group leadership. Sales or recruitment experience, either through a job, campus organization, or volunteer work. Ability to make friends on an airplane. Understanding that students connect with Israel in diverse ways. Willingness to admit what you don’t know and excitement to learn. Creative problem‑solving skills. Interest in continuing to develop a relationship to Judaism and Israel. What You’ll Receive Competitive salary: $46,000 – $51,000 (non‑profit marketplace).
