Join Us as a cGMP Facilities Maintenance Specialist

Step into a validated, cGMP environment where your hands-on expertise keeps high-volume processing equipment and critical facility systems online. From machinery and buildings to computer and control systems, safety, and security platforms—you’ll prevent problems before they start, reduce downtime, and drive efficiency. You’ll maintain shop tools and spare parts, keep the CMMS current, and apply Lean and 5S every day. This is a physical role—particularly within Gamma modality—requiring stamina and strength, and includes after-hours emergency support as needed.

Compensation & Schedule

• Pay: $21.63–$30.00 per hour based on experience, plus a $3.00 shift differential
• Shift: 5:30 pm–5:30 am, rotating two-week schedule
• Week 1: Mon, Tues, Fri, Sat, Sun
• Week 2: Wed, Thur
• Training: Day shift Monday–Friday, 7:00 am–3:30 pm for 6–8 months; must be able to transition to night shift after training

What You’ll Tackle

• Diagnose and resolve issues across multiple technologies and locations; perform scheduled PMs on validated processing assets and propose PM frequency/effectiveness improvements using Lean practices.
• Boost uptime through predictive and preventive maintenance on machinery, utilities, and building systems; assist with equipment installs; maintain facility electrical/lighting, and handle general upkeep (landscaping, painting, carpentry).
• Execute daily to semi-annual safety and maintenance inspections; complete GMP-compliant documentation; rigorously follow LOTO, SDS guidance, and environmental requirements for waste and disposal.
• Support production by completing assigned shift work and participating in a 24-hour rotating on-call program; sustain a robust spare parts program and escalate repair/deferral decisions to supervision when needed.
• Maintain building climate systems through installation, service, repair, and PM on HVAC equipment.
• Champion continuous improvement by analyzing operational data, responding constructively to audits, and incorporating team input to enhance efficiency.
• Keep skills current via workshops, certifications, and peer training; uphold STERIS policies, GMP, Lean, and leadership directives; perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Required

• High school diploma or GED.
• Minimum 2 years in maintenance within manufacturing/industrial/military settings, demonstrating knowledge of maintenance systems, mechanical processes, and production output.
• Working knowledge in pneumatics, hydraulics, mechanical or electrical applications.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lb on a regular basis.
• Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English (English and Spanish in PR).
• Clean-shaven where required to properly seal PPE.

Preferred

• Electrical knowledge.
• Industrial maintenance experience.

Other

• Works independently within general guidelines and supervision.
• Computer literacy: word processing, spreadsheets, and related software.
• Effective interpersonal skills demonstrated through prior roles.
• Above-average organization and analysis plus Level 3 math skills (ratios, proportions, basic algebra) to evaluate organizational, Customer, and regulatory issues and craft corrective action plans.
• PLC/controls experience may be required.
• Adaptable to changing priorities and responsibilities.
• Ability to interpret blueprints and schematics.
• Normal hearing sufficient to detect alarms, bells, and horns.
