Adventure Point Early Learning Center is a Christian, faith-based preschool in National City, serving families across San Diego's South Bay. We believe every child is fearfully and wonderfully made, and we work to make excellent early childhood education accessible and affordable. Our program is play-based, and our classrooms run from infants at six weeks old through pre-kindergarten.

About the Position

This is a floating position. You'll cover days off and breaks across all of our classrooms, from the infant rooms to our four-year-olds, working with each room's teaching team to keep the day running as planned.
You'll get to know every child and family in the building, and every classroom routine.

The position starts as a floater, with the opportunity to move into a dedicated classroom role as positions open.

Schedule

• Four days a week, eight hours a day (32 hours), with an unpaid one-hour lunch break
• Shift times vary day to day, but all shifts fall between 7:00 AM and 5:00 PM, Mon-Fri
• Your days depend on classroom coverage needs, so flexibility on which days you work is required
• Extra shifts may be available on your days off to cover staff absences. Picking them up is optional.

What You'll Do

• Step into any classroom and follow the room's lesson plans, routines, and schedule
• Provide infant care, including diapering, bottle feeding, and safe sleep practices
• Lead play-based activities that build early literacy, social skills, and problem-solving
• Supervise children indoors and on the playground
• Record daily activities, meals, naps, and diaper changes in Brightwheel
• Communicate with parents at drop-off and pickup, and pass along concerns to room teachers and the director
• Keep classrooms clean, organized, and in line with health and safety regulations
• Attend staff meetings and trainings

Requirements

• Proof of at least 6 semester units in early childhood education or child development, including 3 units in infant care. Candidates with fewer than 12 units must complete at least 2 units per semester until they reach 12.
• At least 6 months of experience working with infants, toddlers, and preschool-age children in a licensed preschool or daycare setting
• Commitment to the Christian faith and willingness to integrate faith-based principles into daily teaching
• Ability to move between classrooms and age groups throughout the week
• Ability to communicate with children, families, and coworkers
• Ability to lift up to 40 pounds, sit on the floor, and spend time outdoors with children

Preferred

• Bilingual in English and Spanish
• Pediatric CPR and First Aid certification

Conditions of Employment

• Live Scan fingerprint clearance (DOJ/FBI) and Child Abuse Central Index check
• TB clearance
• Immunizations required for California childcare workers (influenza, pertussis, and measles)

Our facility is built for safety and for learning. Key fob entry controls who comes into the building, video monitoring covers our classrooms and common areas, and our classrooms are bright, clean, and well-equipped for each age group. Outside, children play on age-appropriate equipment with soft surfaces and shaded areas they can use year-round. We use Brightwheel for check-in, daily reports, and parent messaging, which keeps families connected and lets teachers spend their time with children.

We're committed to making excellent early childhood education affordable for South Bay families, and to being a place where teachers can grow. We offer a four-day workweek, pay for required training, and reimburse ECE coursework for teachers working toward full qualification.
