TPWD - License and Permit Specialist II - III

General Description Under the direction of the Big Game Program Director, this position performs licensing and permitting work. The incumbent reviews permit applications, ensures compliance with applicable policies, codes, and statutes, and issues wildlife permits for the Deer Breeder Program. The role also assists with interpretation of statutes, rules, and regulations, relays information to the public, supports Law Enforcement with herd inventory inspections at deer breeder facilities, and maintains, develops, and tests the primary database used to track permit information. Additional duties are performed as assigned. The role complies with all Agency, Division, and Branch rules, regulations, and procedures. Responsibilities Review permit applications and assess compliance with policies, codes, and statutes. Issue wildlife permits for the Deer Breeder Program. Interpret statutes, rules, and regulations, and provide information to the public. Assist Law Enforcement personnel with herd inventory inspections at deer breeder facilities. Maintain, develop, and test the primary permit tracking database. Perform additional duties as assigned. Comply with all Agency, Division, and Branch rules, regulations, and procedures. Minimum Qualifications Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university. One year of experience with data entry and administrative procedures for License and Permit Specialist II. Two years of experience as a TPWD Wildlife Division License and Permit Specialist II for License and Permit Specialist III. Must possess or be able to obtain a valid state driver’s license within 30 days of employment. Preferred Qualifications Two years of experience with data entry and administrative procedures. Experience in advanced MS Excel tasks including development of pivot tables and lookup tables. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Knowledge of applicable policies, administrative codes, statutes, and native Texas wildlife. Proficiency with MS Word, Excel and Outlook, including pivot and lookup tables. Effective verbal and written communication skills. Ability to interact with staff at all levels and other State agencies. Customer service skills in a courteous and professional manner. Data entry proficiency and ability to maintain hard copy and electronic files. Experience using a complex database for viewing and tracking information. Research and information compilation skills. Problem‑solving and multi‑project management. Training others and working as part of a team. Independent work with little supervision. Accurate handling of cash and revenue accounting. Planning, organizing, and executing work assignments efficiently. Flexibility in handling frequent interruptions and changing priorities. Manage high call volumes and difficult customers or situations. Adherence to TPWD safety program requirements.
