Our manufacturing team supports the production of high-precision components used in demanding real-world environments where quality, reliability, and innovation matter.We are seeking an experienced Machinist II to support advanced CNC machining operations within our precision manufacturing team. This role is responsible for independently setting up and proving out new machining programs, supporting process development activities, troubleshooting complex machining challenges, and mentoring developing machinists.The Machinist II role plays a critical part in bringing new products into production by collaborating with programmers and Quality personnel to establish stable, repeatable, and efficient machining processes across a variety of advanced multi-axis CNC platforms.This position is ideal for highly capable machinists who thrive in a technically challenging, innovation-focused manufacturing environment.ResponsibilitiesIndependently set up and run new CNC machining programsPerform advanced setups on:3, 4, and 5-axis vertical mills5-axis horizontal millsCNC lathes, including live-tooling and sub-spindle operationsDevelop and document setup sheets, tooling lists, and machining process documentationProduce and inspect first article components for new production programsCollaborate with QC to validate dimensional conformance and process capabilityRead and interpret complex engineering drawings and GD&T requirementsTroubleshoot machining, tooling, fixture, and dimensional issuesProvide feedback to optimize machining processes and cycle timesPerform minor program edits at the machineCapability to modify Fusion 360 toolpaths and support CAM-related improvementsCreate simple machining programs from existing CAD modelsRecommend tooling, workholding, and process improvementsSupport continuous improvement and operational efficiency initiativesPerform routine daily, weekly, and monthly machine maintenance including cleaning equipment, checking fluid levels, and supporting overall machine readiness and uptime.Perform deburring, blasting, and other finishing and cleaning operations as needed.Mentor and train Machine Operators and Machinist I personnelMaintain a high standard of workmanship, organization, and process disciplineQualificationsHigh school diploma or equivalent required5+ years of CNC machining experience preferredAdvanced experience with multi-axis CNC machining platformsStrong setup and troubleshooting capabilitiesAbility to independently prove out new machining programsStrong understanding of GD&T and first article inspection processesExperience working with tight-tolerance precision componentsExperience using precision inspection equipmentAbility to collaborate effectively across Manufacturing, QC, and Engineering functionsStrong communication and documentation skillsPreferred SkillsExperience with Haas CNC controlsExperience using Fusion 360 CAM softwareExperience machining aluminum and stainless steel componentsExposure to defense, aerospace, or high-precision manufacturing industriesExperience supporting new product introduction and process development activitiesFamiliarity with fixture development and tooling optimizationPhysical RequirementsAbility to stand for extended periodsAbility to lift up to 50 pounds occasionallyFrequent use of hands and precision measuring toolsExposure to machining coolant, metal chips, and industrial noiseRequired use of eye and ear protection in designated manufacturing areasCompensation & BenefitsCompetitive hourly pay based on experience and qualificationsOpportunities for advancement into Machinist career-track positionsMedical, dental, and vision insurance401(k) with company matchPaid time off and holidaysOngoing training and professional development opportunitiesAt Maztech, we don't just accept difference - we celebrate it, we support it, and we thrive on it for the benefit of our employees, our products, and our community.
