POSITION SUMMARY:
With limited guidance in a team environment, responsible for various semi-complex inspection requirements.

RESPONSIBILITIES
Maintain accurate acceptance and rejection records and certification systems as required by specifications.


Inspect parts, tools, or instruments to determine acceptance or rejection, identifying defects and preparing documentation.


Perform semi-complex inspections on machined parts using various measuring instruments and adapt inspection setups for sample parts, forgings, and castings.


Interpret specifications, blueprints, and technical documents to assess acceptability, using mathematics for dimension and tolerance conversions.


Conduct calibration on semi-complex measuring and test equipment, setting up conditions and documenting calibration intervals.


Perform nondestructive testing, including daily checks and equipment setup, while ensuring compliance with safety rules and maintaining a FOD-free work area.


Investigate customer return failures and assist source inspectors as necessary, documenting and evaluating inspection results according to approved procedures.

QUALIFICATIONS
• Experience with First Article inspection AS9102 (Aerospace)
• Experience with mechanical inspection and GD&T knowledge.
• Experience with reviewing supplier certs (Material certs, special process certs, test reports, etc).
• Preferred experience of CMM operations, background in dimensioning and tolerancing per ANSI Y 14.5.
• Proficient in reading and interpreting blueprints, customer's specifications and internal drawings and procedures.
• Possess working knowledge of shop mathematics including trigonometry.
• Personal hand tools may be required.
• May be required to lift up to 50 lbs.
• Must demonstrate effective verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills.
• Ability to work effectively with others and be a participative team player.

Job Details

• We are seeking an experienced Inspector Senior to perform semi-complex inspection activities within an aerospace manufacturing environment.
• The ideal candidate will have strong experience with mechanical inspection, blueprint reading, GD&T, AS9102 First Article Inspection, and precision measuring equipment.
• This is a safety-sensitive position and is subject to random drug testing. Safety shoes (steel or composite toe) are required on the first day.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform semi-complex inspections of machined parts, tools, instruments, forgings, and castings to determine acceptance or rejection.
• Inspect parts using various precision measuring instruments and adapt inspection setups as required.
• Interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, specifications, and technical documentation to determine product acceptability.
• Apply GD&T principles and shop mathematics, including trigonometry, to evaluate dimensions and tolerances.
• Perform and document First Article Inspections (FAI) in accordance with AS9102 requirements.
• Maintain accurate acceptance, rejection, inspection, and certification records.
• Review supplier documentation, including material certifications, special process certifications, test reports, and related quality records.
• Perform calibration activities on measuring and test equipment, including setup, verification, and documentation of calibration intervals.
• Perform nondestructive testing (NDT) activities, including daily equipment checks and setup, while following applicable safety requirements.
• Investigate customer return failures and assist with root-cause and inspection activities as required.
• Support source inspectors and evaluate inspection results in accordance with approved procedures.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and FOD-free work area.
• Communicate inspection findings effectively with quality, manufacturing, engineering, suppliers, and other team members.
• Follow established safety, quality, and inspection procedures.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Experience performing mechanical inspection in a manufacturing or aerospace environment.
• Experience with First Article Inspection (FAI) and AS9102.
• Working knowledge of GD&T and ANSI Y14.5 standards.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, customer specifications, and internal procedures.
• Experience using precision measuring and inspection equipment.
• Working knowledge of shop mathematics, including basic trigonometry.
• Experience reviewing supplier quality documentation such as material certifications, special process certifications, and test reports.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain accurate inspection documentation.
• Effective verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
• Ability to work independently with limited guidance and effectively within a team environment.
• Ability to follow safety and quality procedures in a manufacturing environment.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. as required.
• Personal hand tools may be required.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience operating CMM equipment.
• Aerospace manufacturing or precision machining experience.
• Experience with forgings, castings, and machined components.
• Experience with nondestructive testing (NDT).
• Experience with supplier quality and customer-return investigations.
