Our nursing staff demonstrates their knowledge, critical thinking, and judgment. Services provided by the RN include supervising care delivered, coordinating plans of care, and providing education for patients/families. The Cardiovascular Observation Unit (COU) is a cardiac-focused department that is utilized for admitting and recovering Cath Lab procedures such as heart catheterizations, structural heart procedures, peripheral vascular angiograms, Cardioversions, Anti‑Arrhythmic admissions, ablations, pacemaker / defibrillator implants, loop recorders, EP studies, and CABG surgeries. The Gateway COU currently provides PACU recoveries for patients that have received anesthesia for procedures such as A‑Fib ablations, TAVR procedures, LAAO procedures, and device implants. The COU is expanded from 12 beds to 30 beds that operates 24/7/365. The Gateway COU admits Simple Observation Cardiology patients as well such as arrhythmias and rule‑out chest pain in addition to all the procedures listed above.
