About the Position

Candidates must reside outside a 50-mile radius. Driver's license is required for consideration. Artificial nails are prohibited in all departments providing patient care; refusal to comply may lead to termination of contract. RN's must pass a skills exam during orientation with a score of 90% or higher, or they will be terminated. The unit consists of 55 beds primarily serving adult patients, with rare pediatric cases for patients aged 15 and older. The patient population commonly includes diagnoses such as CVA, TIA, shortness of breath, COVID-19, subdural hematoma, and weakness. The RN-to-patient ratio during the day shift is 1:4 and is the same for night shifts. Shift times are from 06:30 to 18:30 and 18:30 to 06:30. Weekend requirements are every other weekend. Scrubs are navy blue for RNs and ceil blue for Nursing Assistants. Nursing Assistant support is available. A charge nurse is present on the unit. Additional support staff includes educators, care managers, social workers, dieticians, physical therapists, and occupational therapists. Common medications and drips include PCA pumps for pain management, cardizem, and insulin. Challenges in the unit may include staffing and patient experience focus, including hourly rounding and responsiveness. Successful candidates should manage the business of the day effectively and engage well with a tight-knit team. Cancellation policy allows for up to four shifts per 13-week assignment. Charting is conducted using the EPIC system.
