U.S. Expansion Intern — AI Real Estate Compliance

Compensation: This is an unpaid educational internship. No wages, stipend, or salary will be provided.

Academic credit: VeriCasa can support academic credit documentation if the candidate’s university permits it.

Work authorization: Candidates must be legally authorized to participate in an unpaid internship in the United States.

Preferred background: Current student or recent graduate from Stanford, UC Berkeley, or another strong business, law, public policy, computer science, economics, real estate, or technology program.

About VeriCasa

VeriCasa is building AI infrastructure for real estate transactions. Our platform helps brokers, banks, title and escrow teams, and real estate operators automate document review, KYC/KYB, legal checks, contract generation, and compliance workflows.

We are exploring how AI can support real estate compliance workflows in the United States, starting with California residential closings, title, escrow, and transaction documentation.

The Intership Project:

This internship is a structured educational project focused on understanding how California residential real estate closings work and where AI may help reduce manual research, document review, and compliance complexity.

The project is called: California Closing Compliance Copilot: Bay Area Research Pack .

The goal is for the intern to learn about the California residential closing process, title and escrow workflows, compliance documentation, and early-stage product discovery. The intern will receive guidance from VeriCasa’s founders and will present a final research summary at the end of the internship.

This is not a sales role and does not replace the work of a paid employee. The internship is intended to provide practical exposure to startups, AI, real estate compliance, product research, and market discovery.

What will you learn:

During the internship, you will gain exposure to:

• California residential real estate closing workflows.
• Title and escrow processes.
• Compliance-heavy transaction steps.
• AI use cases in document review and legal automation.
• Startup market research and product discovery.
• Customer discovery methods.
• How founders evaluate a new market wedge.

Project Activities:

With guidance from the VeriCasa team, you may:

• Research the California residential real estate closing workflow from accepted offer to recording.
• Identify key documents, parties, risks, and compliance steps involved in title and escrow.
• Study topics such as seller disclosures, escrow instructions, title reports, notarization, recording, FIRPTA, California withholding, identity verification, trust buyers, and entity buyers.
• Help organize research into a clear workflow map.
• Help create a learning-based checklist of California closing steps and risk areas.
• Review public resources, industry materials, and market information.
• Support customer discovery preparation by helping identify relevant market participants.
• Join selected discovery conversations where appropriate.
• Prepare a final research presentation for the VeriCasa founders.

Expected Educational Outputs:

By the end of the internship, the goal is to produce:

1. A California residential closing workflow map.
2. A research-based checklist of key documents, risks, and compliance steps.
3. A short product discovery brief summarizing possible AI use cases.
4. Notes from research and selected discovery conversations.
5. A list of relevant Bay Area title, escrow, brokerage, mortgage, and proptech companies.
6. A final presentation summarizing the intern’s findings and recommendations.

These outputs are intended as part of the intern’s learning experience and final presentation. They are not tied to sales targets, revenue targets, or guaranteed commercial outcomes.

Ideal Candidate:

You may be a strong fit if you are:

• Based in San Francisco or the Bay Area.
• Interested in startups, AI, legaltech, proptech, fintech, real estate, or compliance.
• Comfortable using AI tools such as ChatGPT, Claude, Codex, or similar tools to research, structure information, and improve productivity.
• Strong at structured research, writing, and synthesis.
• Able to turn messy information into clear frameworks, checklists, and recommendations.
• Comfortable communicating professionally with founders and industry professionals.
• Entrepreneurial, practical, and able to work independently.
• Detail-oriented and reliable.

Legal, business, real estate, public policy, computer science, economics, or technology backgrounds are all welcome. Prior real estate experience is helpful but not required.

Mentorshop and Supervision:

The intern will work directly with VeriCasa’s founders and will receive regular guidance during the project. The internship is designed to provide practical learning, market exposure, and startup experience in AI, real estate compliance, and product discovery.
