Details Work on a 32-bed Medical/Surgical unit within a 241-bed, Level 3 Trauma hospital Certified Chest Pain Center and Stroke Center Patient population includes stroke, respiratory illness (flu/pneumonia/COVID), renal failure, peritoneal dialysis, and wound care cases RN patient ratio of 1:5-6, with surge staffing up to 1:7-8 12-hour night shift schedule (1900-0700), 36 hours per week Schedule cycle rotates every 6 weeks with shift times of 0630-1900 and 1830-0700 Every other weekend rotation required Low census call possible, with call-back up to 3a for nights and 3p for days Required to float within Region 3 (Cleveland, Kings Mtn, Lincoln, Central Division including CMC Main, Mercy, and LCH) per scope of practice Uses Epic EMR Unit equipped with IV pumps, med dispensing system, patient monitors, and virtual nursing cameras (VNO) for second-RN witness and patient monitoring support Support staff includes CNAs, charge nurse, phlebotomy, IV/VAT team, and 24/7 RT, hospitalist, and intensivist coverage Requirements Active RN license (NC or Compact) required Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required Minimum 18 months of Med/Tele RN experience required Skilled in cardiac rhythm interpretation, non-titrating cardiac drips (Cardizem/Amiodarone), wound care, drain/tube management, PIV starts, and central line management Epic EMR experience required Last 4 digits of SSN and full DOB required for consideration Minimum 1 professional reference dated within the last year from a Supervisor, Manager, Director, or Charge RN Additional Information Provide direct medical-surgical and telemetry nursing care in a fast-paced, patient-centered unit known for strong teamwork Utilize virtual nursing support (VNO) for medication witnessing, patient monitoring, and admission/discharge assistance Complete facility NEO orientation plus 2 days of departmental orientation Expected to work 75% of holidays Up to 6 days of RTO may be approved (excluding holidays); missed contracted hours must be made up by extending the contract Navy scrub color required Free parking provided onsite First-time travelers are welcome to apply Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility to be eligible; local candidates not accepted Previous permanent employees of AHSE facilities must be separated for at least 1 year before eligibility American Traveler Job ID P-729390.
