Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Accounting (Required) Minimum 3–5 years of accounting experience covering general accounting functions such as accounts payable, fixed assets, general ledger, budgeting, payroll (Required) Excellent written and verbal communication skills (Required) Extensive experience with Microsoft Excel, Word and the general ledger accounting system (Required) Hands‑on experience with financial statement preparation and consolidation (Preferred) Problem‑solving ability based on policies and procedures (Preferred) Job Summary The Staff Accountant performs duties related to a timely and accurate month‑end close, maintains records of routine accounting transactions, assists in the preparation of financial and operating reports including trial balances, adjustments and closing entries, and may assist in analysis and interpretation of accounting records for management. The role also supports payroll, accounts payable, prepares State and Federal requested reports and assists with Form 990’s, prepares monthly reconciliations of all balance sheet accounts, assists in the compilation of annual budgets, and participates in special projects for the Fiscal Department. Physical Demands This position requires walking, standing and sitting, lifting and carrying up to 20 pounds frequently, and occasionally up to 25 pounds. The job also requires bending, squatting, balancing, reaching above shoulder height, twisting, and maneuvering around the printer. Continuous use of touch, sight, hearing and fine manipulation is required. Cognitive Demands Requires strong computational skills, written and verbal communication, reading and listening comprehension, discernment, perception, concentration, and high‑quality problem‑solving abilities to identify and solve most problems independently. Work Demands Works in a comfortable environment with adequate lighting and ventilation, continuously collaborates with others, and demonstrates refined manual dexterity and hand‑eye coordination. Substantial overtime may be required to complete reports and projects. Essential Functions Prepare data to ensure an accurate and timely month‑end closing according to GAAP standards Prepare and post recurring and manual adjusting journal entries Conduct a thorough self‑review of monthly financial statements and underlying support before submission to the Corporate Accounting/Budget Manager Maintain regular contact with department managers regarding temporarily restricted funds available for their use Maintain updated general ledger account reconciliations for all balance sheet accounts Prepare correcting journal entries as appropriate Act as a back‑up for additional accounting functions as assigned by Corporate Accounting/Budget Manager Assist with the preparation of tax returns including unclaimed property, personal property tax, etc. Assist in the compilation of annual operating and capital budgets Compile draft budget reports for management review #J-18808-Ljbffr Hospital for Special Care
