Principal Network Developer (BGP Automation)

Salary: $102,300 - 209,500 per year Requirements:

• Experience working in a large ISP or cloud provider environment
• Familiarity with commodity Ethernet hardware, including Broadcom or Mellanox
• Experience with networking protocols such as BGP, OSPF, IS-IS, TCP/IP, IPv4, IPv6, VPN, DNS, DHCP, SSL, and MPLS
• Experience with internet peering and inter-domain networking
• Experience with scripting or automation and data center design; Python is preferred, and proficiency in a scripting or compiled language is required
• Experience designing, using, or deploying automation systems and frameworks
• Experience with network modeling and programming, including YANG, OpenConfig, or NETCONF
• Knowledge of network security design, system performance testing and characterization, and data-flow and telemetry design, deployment, and operation
• Strong judgment and ability to influence product roadmaps, features, and priorities
• Excellent organizational, verbal, and written communication skills

• Take part in network lifecycle work, including network builds and upgrades, and coordinate project milestones and deliverables with program and project managers
• Execute network changes using established procedures and tools, and develop new procedures when needed
• Act as technical lead for team projects and contribute to roadmap planning
• Develop runbooks, procedures, and standalone features, and mentor junior engineers
• Participate in network solution and architecture design
• Join operational rotations as a primary or secondary responder, provide break-fix support, and act as an escalation point for event remediation
• Lead post-event root cause analyses
• Coordinate with network automation teams to develop and integrate support tools, and create scripts to automate routine work
• Serve as a subject matter expert on network automation software development projects
• Work with network vendors and internal Quality Assurance teams to resolve software bugs and qualify new firmware and operating systems
