Job Description: ** Temporary position** Position Summary Reporting to the Director of Care Transitions, the Manager of Interpreter Services oversees the daily operations of the hospital's Interpreter Services program. This role ensures timely, high-quality interpreter and translation services for patients with Limited English Proficiency (LEP) and those who are Blind, Deaf, or Hard of Hearing (BDHH). The Manager is responsible for program administration, vendor management, regulatory compliance, staff supervision, data reporting, and the development of culturally responsive communication strategies. The role collaborates across departments and with community partners to support equitable patient care and compliance with federal, state, and accreditation standards. Key Responsibilities Program Operations & Service Delivery • Oversee the delivery of interpreter and translation services across all hospital departments and affiliated practices.
- Manage daily scheduling, dispatch, and fulfillment of interpreter service requests.
- Ensure effective communication support for LEP/BDHH patients, families, and care teams.
- Serve as a cultural and linguistic resource to staff and providers to improve patient
- Facilitate regular staff meetings and maintain documentation.
- Promote teamwork, professionalism, and adherence to interpreter ethics and standards.
- Act as the primary liaison for external interpreter service vendors.
- Monitor service quality, resolve issues, and ensure contract compliance.
- Maintain accurate records of interpreter service usage and manage invoice processing.
- Develop, manage, and monitor the Interpreter Services program budget.
- Track utilization and recommend cost-effective strategies while maintaining quality standards.
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations related to language access (e.g., Title VI, Joint Commission standards).
- Prepare reports, submissions, and communications demonstrating compliance, including for:
- Collect, analyze, and report interpreter services data and key metrics.
- Identify trends and recommend improvements to enhance service delivery and patient
- Develop and deliver staff education on interpreter services and culturally competent care.
- Ensure staff understand appropriate use of interpreter services, technology, and resources.
- Maintain up-to-date educational materials, policies, and reference tools.
- Contribute to the creation and revision of Interpreter Services policies and procedures.
- Ensure policies align with best practices and regulatory requirements.
- Uphold patient confidentiality, informed consent, and non-discrimination standards.
- Adhere to the organization's mission, values, and service excellence expectations.
- Ensure compliance with all applicable safety, regulatory, and organizational policies.
- Maintain required competencies and pursue ongoing professional development.
- Perform additional duties as assigned based on operational needs.
- 5+ years of experience in interpreter services, healthcare operations, or related field.
- 2+ years of leadership or supervisory experience preferred.
- Experience working with LEP and BDHH populations required.
- Strong knowledge of medical interpreting standards, ethics, and practices.
- Familiarity with regulatory requirements (e.g., Joint Commission, Title VI).
- Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to manage budgets, contracts, and data reporting.
- Strong organizational and problem-solving skills.
- Commitment to cultural competency and health equity.
- Hospital setting with regular interaction across departments.
- May require occasional evening or weekend coverage based on operational needs
$90,005.40 USD - $126,004.50 USD
The pay range listed for this position is the annual base salary range the organization reasonably and in good faith expects to pay for this position at this time. Actual compensation is determined based on several factors, that may include seniority, education, training, relevant experience, relevant certifications, geography of work location, job responsibilities, or other applicable factors permissible by law.
