Principal Medical Safety Specialist

Principal Medical Safety Specialist supporting Cardiac Rhythm Management at Medtronic. Evaluates safety signals, adverse events, and post-market data for cardiac implantable electronic devices throughout the product lifecycle. Remote role with up to 10% travel.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate safety events, adverse event trends, and potential safety signals from Quality, Clinical, and Regulatory processes
• Conduct medical safety assessments using complaint data, scientific literature, registries, and post-market surveillance information
• Respond to safety-related inquiries from internal stakeholders, healthcare professionals, and regulatory agencies
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to assess and address emerging safety concerns and support product lifecycle decisions
• Lead or support initiatives that improve safety practices, business processes, and cross-functional decision-making

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Nursing or healthcare-related field with active licensure
• 7+ years CIED management experience OR advanced degree with 5+ years related experience
• Experience in Medical Safety, Medical Affairs, or Clinical Management functions
• Knowledge of CIED therapy, device programming, remote monitoring, and cardiac disease states
• Ability to evaluate clinical and post-market safety data for risk-based decisions
• IBHRE certification preferred
• FDA, EMA, or medical device regulatory knowledge preferred
