Classification: Full-Time (8:30 a.m. 3:30 p.m) Work Year: 205 School Days

Job Summary:

• Conduct diagnostic evaluations and screenings: Provide diagnostic assessments and/or screenings in the areas of: speech and language, articulation, Augmentative and Alternative Communication, hearing, swallowing/oral motor. Write evaluations and reports to share at triennial and annual Individualized Education Program conferences.
• Develop a program adapted to individual students: Implement therapeutic services as required by Individualized Educational Plan (IEP). Manage a caseload of students with moderate to profound intellectual diagnoses. Organize and develop materials to use to provide therapeutic service. Direct and indirect service/consultations available to staff and families. Report student progress quarterly.
• Participate in new student intakes. Coordinate and complete referrals and evaluations of Augmentative and Alternative Communication and Assistive Technology (AAC/AT) devices with outside districts. Implement and provide education with families and classroom staff on the use of AAC/AT. Manage repairs and updates of AAC/AT devices within NHC, outside school districts, and device companies. Case manage hearing itinerant consultations and observations and on-site visits. Therapy Department meetings, including preparation for annual IEP meetings and triennial conferences.
• Identify and participate in professional development as necessary to identify research-based practices and professional development: Participate in conferences, workshops, seminars, webinars, and conventions.
• Certification and license requirements: Non-teaching Professional Educator License (PEL), Speech-Language Pathology Certificate of Clinical Competence, and Illinois state license (IDPFR). Maintain membership in either the Illinois Speech and Hearing Association and/or the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association. Provide in-service training in speech-language, augmentative and alternative communication, and safe feeding/swallowing skills to staff at the start of the school year and ongoing as needed.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.

• Maintaining Learning Areas: Bending over to pick up materials and ensuring the spaces are tidy, organized, and conducive to a stimulating and enjoyable experience for the students.
• Active Participation: Keeping up with the energy and enthusiasm of the students, actively engaging in learning, while fostering a joyful atmosphere.
• Supporting your Team: New Horizon Center supports each other in all capacities and daily duties. You will be a team player in both your classroom and throughout the building.

Qualifications:

• Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology from an accredited college or university.
• License from the State of Illinois (PEL).
• Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech-Language Pathology from the American Speech-Language Hearing Association (ASHA).
