Catholic School Teacher
Excellent Catholic schools are impossible without convicted and competent teachers. Teaching in a Catholic school, no matter the subject taught, is an invitation to share deeply in the Church's teaching ministry and experience the joy of helping students become the person God created them to be.
We believe a true Catholic education is life-changing, which is why we provide tuition-free master's degrees to every full-time teacher in our archdiocese through the University of Saint Thomas and the Saint Paul Seminary. We equip our teachers with the knowledge and skill needed to be both witnesses to the faith and expert teachers.
This vocation requires special qualities of heart and mind. Our ideal candidate will have the following attributes:
- Deep devotion to Jesus Christ and His Church
- Passion for teaching children
- Love for her/his subject matter
- Humility and a desire for self-knowledge
- Commitment to professional growth
Teachers in our Catholic schools must meet the following minimum professional standards:
- A bachelor's degree from an accredited institution
- A deep commitment to the importance and mission of Catholic schools
State licensure is not required for teachers in Catholic schools.
(Note: Only practicing Catholics who will give a credible witness to the faith are eligible to serve as teachers of religion.)
