Job TitleFacilities Maintenance TechnicianJob DescriptionThe City of Murphy's Facilities Department seeks to add a Facilities Maintenance Technician to its dynamic team! The Facilities Maintenance Technician, under direction of the Facilities Superintendent, performs a variety of semi-skilled maintenance duties to include electrical, plumbing, carpentry, painting, and monthly preventative maintenance.Examples of DutiesAssists the Superintendent in managing, planning and operating municipal facilitiesAssists the Superintendent with an inventory of Public buildings and their operating systemsPerforms the systematic monthly preventative maintenance on all municipal HVAC systems to include filter replacement and lubrication Assists the Superintendent in identifying potential hazards, problem areas, and the status of municipal buildings and their electrical, plumbing and HVAC systemsPerforms minor repairs on all municipal HVAC systemsAssists in monitoring various contractorsAssists the Superintendent in monitoring and providing compliance with Service Agreements and Contracts - provides details to obtain quotes and evaluates resultsPerforms the systematic monthly preventative maintenance on all municipal generator systems, and maintaining monthly logPerforms minor plumbing maintenance (e.g. replacement or repair of leaks in drains and faucets, installing of water heaters, unclogging of drains, etc.)Performs minor electrical maintenance to include but not limited to replacement or repair of fixtures (e.g. wall switches, incandescent and florescent bulbs/tubes, ballast, sockets, fuse, minor appliance cords, etc.) using appropriate hand, power, and specialty toolsPerforms minor painting, carpentry, and masonry work (e.g. preparing surfaces and using a brush, sprayer, or roller to apply paints, stains, and varnishes)Reconfigures, installs, positions, and remounts modular offices and space (e.g. furniture, wall panels, work surfaces, storage bins, file cabinets, etc.)Prepares the surfaces and paints various types of structures and equipmentHangs pictures and shelving, as neededResponds to various service requests and provides corrective actionPerforms general work order requestsAdheres to personnel, safety, and department policies and proceduresTypical QualificationsMINIMUM QUALIFICATIONSHigh School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED)Two (2) years of previous maintenance experience that includes working with HVAC, electrical and plumbing systems and carpentry workValid Texas Class C Driver's License - driving record must be in compliance with City policy.Supplemental InformationPREFERRED QUALIFICATIONSCompletion of a related trade school or HVAC trainingSPECIAL REQUIREMENTSMay be required to lift up to one hundred (100) poundsMay be required to work evening, weekends, and overtime as neededWhy You'll Love Working HereCompetitive medical, dental, and vision benefits packageRetirement program (TMRS) with 2:1 City match3 weeks of Vacation and Sick leave per year (with additional accruals after 5 years of service).14 paid holidays.City-paid Life Insurance at 1x your annual salary up to $100KCity-paid disability insurance$7 Longevity payEducation Assistance ProgramOngoing training and professional growth opportunitiesEmployee Assistance ProgramWellness ProgramChildcare assistanceA positive and collaborative work environmentPosting Closure Notice The City of Murphy may modify, withdraw, or close any job posting at any time without prior notice.
