About the Position

Job Title: Respiratory Therapist - NICU Profession: Respiratory / Neuro Diagnostics Specialty: RRT - NICU Duration: 13 weeks (option for extension) Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum of 1 year in level 4 NICU License: State License Required; Pending licenses accepted Certifications: RRT, BLS, NRP required; ACCS preferred Must-Have: Level 4 NICU experience; Cardiac PICU experience preferred Description: The Respiratory Therapist will provide care for patients in the NICU and PICU, as well as during high-risk deliveries. The therapist must be comfortable working in a multidisciplinary team. Strong communication and critical thinking skills are essential. Responsibilities include working in all units related to pediatric care. Candidates should be competent in managing patients with various respiratory conditions. Experience with special equipment, such as Bunnell Jet Ventilator and HFOV 3100A, is necessary. The role will involve participating in the care of neonates, infants, and pediatric patients. The therapist should have skills in aerosol setup, intubation assistance, and pulmonary hygiene. Documentation using the electronic health record system is expected. Must work every other weekend and holiday, including two out of three winter holidays. The schedule will follow a self-scheduling model, although desired shifts cannot be guaranteed. Candidates with experience in a children’s hospital or similar setting are preferred. Emergency and critical care experience in respiratory therapy is beneficial. The position requires the ability to float within various units as needed. Traveler candidates must disclose any known issues in their background before proceeding.
