Banquet Manager

Shackamaxon Country Club | Scotch Plains, NJ Shackamaxon Country Club is seeking an experienced and service-driven Banquet Manager to join our Food & Beverage team. This hands-on floor leadership role is responsible for overseeing banquet operations and ensuring the flawless execution of weddings, member events, golf tournaments, and private functions. Working in partnership with the Events Manager, Executive Chef, and Food & Beverage Director, the Banquet Manager leads the service team, coordinates event operations, and delivers the exceptional hospitality our members and guests expect. The ideal candidate is an organized, hands-on leader who thrives in a fast-paced environment, leads by example, and takes pride in creating memorable experiences for members and guests. Responsibilities Oversee banquet operations for private functions and club events if needed, ensuring seamless execution from setup through breakdown and adherence to event plans developed by the Events Manager. Lead, train, schedule in coordination with the F&B Director, and supervise banquet servers and bartenders to ensure exceptional service and consistent execution. Conduct pre-event meetings with the banquet team to review event details, timelines, service expectations, and operational assignments. Review BEOs and event details in advance, identify potential execution gaps, and lead cross-functional planning with the Events Manager and culinary team. Partner closely with the Executive Chef and culinary team to coordinate food service and ensure timely, accurate execution. Ensure banquet rooms, meeting spaces, patios, and event venues are properly set according to event specifications and club standards. Monitor event execution to maintain the highest standards of service, quality, and member satisfaction. Maintain a visible leadership presence throughout events, proactively checking on members and hosts rather than waiting for requests or concerns Serve as the primary operational leader during events, responding quickly to requests and ensuring a seamless guest experience. Build positive relationships with members, guests, vendors, and fellow team members while providing professional, attentive service. Assist in developing and maintaining banquet service standards and training programs that promote consistency and excellence. Maintain inventory of banquet equipment, linens, china, glassware, and service supplies. Ensure compliance with all health, safety, sanitation, and alcohol service regulations. Support restaurant operations, member events, and other Food & Beverage initiatives as business needs require. Qualifications Three or more years of banquet or event management experience, preferably in a private club , resort, hotel, or upscale hospitality environment. Proven leadership skills with the ability to coach, motivate, and develop team members. Exceptional organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple events simultaneously. Strong working knowledge of BEOs, event diagrams, banquet timelines, service styles, room setup, and food-and-beverage coordination. Strong communication and polished interpersonal skills with a commitment to outstanding hospitality. Thorough knowledge of banquet service standards, food and beverage operations, and event logistics. Computer proficiency, including Microsoft Office and general business applications. Ability to work evenings, weekends, holidays, and extended hours based on event schedules. Ability to stand and walk for extended periods and lift up to 50 pounds.
