Overview The US Oncology Network is looking for an Insurance Specialist to join our team at Texas Oncology . This full‑time position supports the Medical Oncology Department at 3001 E. President George Bush Highway Suite 100, Richardson, Texas. Responsibilities Monitor delinquent accounts and perform collection duties. Review reports, research, and resolve issues. Review payment postings for accuracy to maintain current account balances. Work with coworkers to resolve insurance payment and billing errors. Monitor and update delinquent account status. Recommend accounts for collection or write‑off. Contact patients to secure past‑due balances, verify demographics and insurance information, update systems, and document conversations. Answer patient payment, billing, and insurance questions and resolve complaints. Refer patients to the Patient Benefits Representative to set up payment plans. Maintain credit balances of patients and payors, ensuring timely refunds within government guidelines. Adhere to confidentiality, state, federal, and HIPAA laws and guidelines regarding patient records. Perform other duties as requested or assigned. Qualifications Level 1 High school diploma or equivalent. Minimum two (2) years combined medical billing and payment experience. Knowledge of state, federal, and third‑party claims processing. Knowledge of state and federal collections guidelines. Successfully complete required e‑learning courses within 90 days of starting the position. Level 2 (in addition to Level 1 requirements) Minimum four (4) years combined medical billing and payment experience. Knowledge of medical coding, preferably oncology coding. Level Sr (in addition to Level 1 and 2 requirements) Associate's degree in finance, business or four years revenue‑cycle experience preferred. Minimum two (2) years insurance resolution experience and four (4) years combined medical billing and payment experience. Proficiency with computer systems and Microsoft Office (Word and Excel). Knowledge of oncology medical coding. Knowledge of state, federal, and third‑party claims processing. Competencies Uses technical and functional experience. Physical Demands Employees are regularly required to sit and use hands to manipulate a computer keyboard and mouse. Occasional standing, walking, and reaching with hands and arms are required, and employees may need to lift or move up to 30 pounds. Vision and hearing must be corrected to normal ranges. Work Environment The work is performed in an office environment that involves frequent contact with staff.
