Road & Bridge Full-time Temporary South Holland, IL, US 2 days ago Requisition ID: 1092 Salary Range: $20.00 To $23.00 Hourly THORNTON TOWNSHIP Administrative Assistant - Road and Bridge Department Road and Bridge Position Type Full-Time, Hourly Openings 1 Pay Rate $20.00 - $23.00 per hour Schedule Full-Time: 40 hours per week Reports To Highway Commissioner or Designee POSITION SUMMARY The Administrative Assistant provides clerical, administrative, records and resident-service support to the Thornton Township Road and Bridge Department. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Answer telephone calls, assist visitors and residents, and route inquiries to appropriate staff. Prepare, proofread, scan, file and maintain letters, reports, forms and spreadsheets. Organize department records, service requests, equipment and vehicle maintenance documents. Coordinate meetings, appointments, staff communication and daily office scheduling. Receive and document resident concerns about roads, drainage, snow removal and services. Assist with purchasing documents, invoices, supply requests, timesheets and expense logs. Track office supplies, update department records and maintain confidential information. Coordinate with other departments, vendors, contractors and members of the public. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS High school diploma or GED required. Prior administrative, clerical, receptionist or office-support experience required. Accurate typing, data entry, document preparation and customer service skills required. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES Must demonstrate strong customer service, written communication, organization, records handling, time management and discretion. Basic computer knowledge: Must use Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, spreadsheets, digital filing, scheduling software and electronic data-entry systems. LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS Must complete Township onboarding, required records/confidentiality training and applicable departmental safety training. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND WORKING CONDITIONS Must work in an office setting with visits to departmental facilities, use standard office equipment, sit and stand, and lift office materials up to 20 pounds. ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS Must complete background screening, applicable pre-employment screening and Township onboarding. Must perform additional duties assigned by department leadership.
