Research Assistant in Quantum Optomechanics Niels Bohr Institute, University of Copenhagen The Quantum Optomechanics group at the Niels Bohr Institute specializes in measurement, control and conversion of the motional quantum states. We have pioneered mechanical systems with exceptional coherence, which allow reaching new regimes of sensitivity and efficiency. The group operates in a dynamic, international research environment with top‑notch optics and cryogenics laboratories and access to a world‑class cleanroom. Position The University is seeking a research assistant for a 3.5‑month contract ending at the end of the year, starting 15 September 2026 (or as soon as possible thereafter). Responsibilities The successful applicant will carry out experimental and theoretical work on continuously monitored optomechanical systems, with a particular focus on mechanical parametric phenomena, such as squeezing. The work envisions applications of ultracoherent mechanical resonators in force and environment sensing. Qualifications Background in physics or related engineering disciplines. Experience in experimental and theoretical opto‑and/or electromechanics. Terms of Employment The position is covered by the Memorandum on Job Structure for Academic Staff. Terms of appointment and payment accord to the agreement between the Ministry of Finance and The Danish Confederation of Professional Associations on Academics in the State. Negotiation for salary supplement is possible. When affiliated with the University of Copenhagen or otherwise having access to their research, you may be required to undergo a background screening.
