Wire Transfer Specialist

The Wire Transfer Specialist is responsible for supporting the daily operations of the Wire Department, including processing domestic and international wire transfers, investigations, recalls, returns, and payment requests. This role ensures all transactions are completed accurately, efficiently, and in compliance with established policies and regulatory requirements while delivering exceptional service to both internal and external customers. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, organized, and knowledgeable in wire operations, with the ability to minimize risk, maintain strong internal controls, and support branch and customer inquiries. Key Responsibilities Process domestic and international wire transfers accurately and within established service standards. Handle wire recalls, returns, amendments, and investigations in a timely manner to minimize customer impact. Monitor the status of wire requests and maintain organized records and tracking logs. Process and approve outgoing foreign currency wire transfers in accordance with company policies and procedures. Review wire transactions to ensure compliance with internal policies and applicable banking regulations. Respond to research requests and provide support to branches and customers regarding wire activity. Ensure appropriate controls are followed to protect the organization and its customers from fraud, operational losses, and transaction errors. Investigate and resolve wire discrepancies while maintaining excellent customer service. Maintain confidentiality of customer information and sensitive financial data. Collaborate with internal departments to resolve complex wire-related issues and improve operational efficiency. Assist with departmental reporting, audits, and special projects as needed. Compliance Responsibilities Adhere to all applicable Bank Secrecy Act (BSA), Anti-Money Laundering (AML), and Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) policies and procedures. Identify and report suspicious transactions or activities in accordance with established compliance guidelines. Complete all required compliance training and remain current on regulatory requirements affecting wire operations. Ensure all wire transactions comply with applicable banking regulations and internal risk management policies. Qualifications Previous experience in wire transfer operations, treasury services, or banking operations preferred. Knowledge of domestic and international wire processing procedures. Working knowledge of BSA, AML, OFAC, and banking compliance regulations. Strong attention to detail with excellent analytical and problem-solving skills. Ability to prioritize multiple tasks while maintaining a high level of accuracy. Excellent communication and customer service skills. Proficiency in Microsoft Office and banking software systems. Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment. Preferred Skills Experience handling wire investigations, recalls, and payment exceptions. Strong organizational and time management skills. Ability to identify operational risks and recommend process improvements.
