Position/Rank Academic Transplant Hepatologist Department 00229 - Gastroenterology Location Salt Lake City, UT Employment Track Track Dependent on Qualifications Start Date Upon hire Job Overview The Division of Gastroenterology, Hepatology and Nutrition at the University of Utah seeks an Academic Hepatologist to join our dynamic and established Transplant Hepatology Program. The multidisciplinary team includes 5 transplant hepatologists, 4 abdominal transplant surgeons, 6 transplant coordinators, 11 advanced practice providers, and 5 transplant pharmacists. This faculty position emphasizes hepatology and liver transplantation, with the option to incorporate outpatient endoscopy based on individual interest. Clinical responsibilities include transplant and general hepatology, outreach activities, and inpatient and outpatient care. Inpatient time is shared on a rotating basis among the hepatology faculty. Academic duties include teaching or mentoring gastroenterology fellows and medical house staff, contributing to weekly educational conferences, and participating in clinical or basic science research. The division performs over 400 liver transplants to date and aims to exceed 50 this year. The program is committed to advancing into a nationally recognized Center of Excellence and developing a comprehensive care model for patients with steatotic liver disease, collaborating with weight management, addiction medicine, radiology, pathology, and oncology. Responsibilities Perform transplant and general hepatology care in inpatient and outpatient settings. Provide outpatient endoscopy services (optional). Participate in outreach activities and community education. Teach and mentor gastroenterology fellows, medical house staff, and participate in weekly educational conferences. Engage in clinical or basic science research projects. Minimum Qualifications MD or equivalent medical degree Board certification in Gastroenterology (ABIM) Board eligibility in Transplant Hepatology (ABIM) Eligibility for a Utah medical license Preferred Qualifications Board certification in Transplant Hepatology (ABIM) Background Check & Immunizations This position may require successful completion of a criminal background check, drug screen, and immunizations.
