Since 2011, we have continued to employ the highest caliber of professionals whose success is attributed to the intelligence, dedication, and years of experience within many government organizations including the Intelligence Community (IC), Department of Defense (DoD), and Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA).RBR-Technologies has an immediately available opening for a Database Engineer to work on a key program supporting the U.S. Department of State to help develop a modernized database architecture in an effort to align with modernization initiatives.ResponsibilitiesResearch, evaluate, and recommend future database platforms, tools, and architecture patterns, including high-availability, hybrid-cloud, in-memory, and emerging data technologies.Test database architecture solutions that improve scalability, resilience, security, and performance.Assist in establishing database architecture standards, policies, and best practices across legacy and modernized environments.Support transition of legacy databases to modernized architectures while enabling coexistence across on-premises and cloud ecosystems.Help design sustainable enterprise data models, schemas, data structures, and modernized storage patterns such as data lakes and NoSQL where appropriate.Continuously improve database replication architecture and standards using approved tools and best practices.Design and implement data interfaces within the Department of State and with external agency partners.Gather, define, and refine database and reporting requirements for internal and external users.Maintain enterprise architecture documentation and technical artifacts, including data models, SOPs, installation guides, and related engineering documentation.Ensure sensitive data is properly handled, including sanitization of PII for non-production environments and alignment with security and operational requirements.Basic QualificationsActive Top Secret security clearanceThis position can be hired at the junior, mid or senior level (see below)Junior level: 1-2 years related experience coupled with Bachelor's degree in information technology, computer science, engineering or a related fieldMid- level: 4-5 years related experience coupled with Bachelor's degree in information technology, computer science, engineering or a related fieldSr. level: 8-10 years related experience coupled with Bachelor's degree in information technology, computer science, engineering or a related fieldHands-on technical experience in at least one of the following areas: Oracle, SQL Server, .NET, Java, engineered systems, cloud technologies, data integration, automated testing and deployments, and DevSecOps.Demonstrated experience supporting database engineering, architecture, modernization, and Tier III technical support functions in complex enterprise environments.Preferred Qualifications:Experience in high-availability, mission-critical, or large-scale federal enterprise systems requiring strong reliability, performance, and security.Experience working in environments that require close coordination with government stakeholders, cross-functional technical teams, and multiple contractors.A career at RBR-Technologies doesn't mean you have to make sacrifices in other areas of your life.Best in class health benefits planGenerous 401k with matchingFlexible work policies and schedules (dependent upon contract)Generous Paid Time Off + All Federal HolidaysSpecial paid leave for: Bereavement, Voting, Military, and morePaid Volunteer Hours for Community OutreachPaid Parental LeaveFamily-Friendly Company Paid EventsAnnual Pet Insurance Benefit Equal Employment Opportunity has been, and will continue to be, a fundamental principle at RBR-Technologies, where employment is based on personal capabilities and qualifications without discrimination because of race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, pregnancy, age, national origin, disability status, genetic information, protected veteran status, or any protected characteristic as established by law.
