Social Media Student Assistant

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Content Creation: Utilize a strong, creative, and media-savvy skillset to craft social media content for SCE’s Instagram accounts, with plans to start a LinkedIn presence.
• Multimedia Production: Shoot and edit photo and video content for social media use, with a particular emphasis on short-form video.
• Graphic Design: Design graphic assets for use on social media, blogs, and newsletters.
• Copywriting: Write compelling, concise copy that follows marketing best practices and branding guidelines.
• Collaboration: Work with students, faculty, and staff to gather and create content, and liaise with students and alumni for takeovers and other content.
• Event Coverage: Attend school and program events to capture and create social media content.
• Community Engagement: Monitor social accounts, including tags, mentions, and direct messages, interacting with both the SCE community as well as broader external audiences (e.g., prospective students and their families, alumni, etc.).
• Research: Proactively research news items, events, and other content ideas to promote and celebrate the SCE community.
• Strategy Development: Think creatively about social media strategy and develop a social media schedule.
• Team Meetings: Participate in regular meetings with the program's social media team.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

• Interest and Knowledge: Strong interest in social media, storytelling, and community building; general interest in design and the built environment is encouraged.
• Multimedia Skills: Photography and/or videography experience.
• Design Skills: Graphic design experience (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, etc.).
• Writing Skills: Strong copywriting and editing skills.
• Communication and Teamwork: Strong communicator and team player.
• Proactivity and Independence: Enthusiastic, proactive, and independent.
• Trend Awareness: Knowledge of the latest digital trends.
• Time Management: Skilled at executing multiple projects simultaneously with efficient time management and exceptional attention to detail.
• Feedback Responsiveness: Responsive to feedback.
• Appreciation: Appreciation for arts, design, student life, and higher education.
• Availability: Available during office hours, with occasional evening hours while attending events.
• Knowledge of SCE: Familiarity with SCE’s disciplines is a plus but not required.
• Comfort on Camera: Comfortable on camera is a plus.

WORK MODE

Hybrid/Split - Employees hired for this position have regularly scheduled, consistent percentage of time on campus (ex 1-4x/week) and also work some of the time remotely. This position will require 2 days of on campus work. There will be times that this position can be remote however, this will be discussed as projects come in. #LI-DNI

HOURLY RATE: $18/hour

Responsibilities:

The responsibilities for this role are, however not limited to content creation, multimedia production in addition to graphic design and copy editing. Additionally it's important to be available for events across campus to assist in promotion.
