Project Manager (Data Centers)

Role Description

WSP is currently initiating a search for a Project Manager (Data Centers) to join us in Houston, TX. This position can be offered remotely.

As demand for AI, cloud computing, and digital infrastructure accelerates, our clients are developing some of the world's largest, most complex, and most power-intensive facilities. In this role, you will help deliver the electrical infrastructure that enables next-generation data center campuses—projects requiring hundreds of megawatts of power and unprecedented levels of planning, engineering, and coordination.

You will work across the full project lifecycle, playing a key role in delivering critical infrastructure for some of the industry's most prominent clients.

Your impact will include:

• Leading and overseeing cross-functional teams delivering power distribution and utility engineering projects.
• Managing multiple concurrent projects involving distribution lines, feeders, and grid infrastructure upgrades.
• Developing and managing project scopes, cost estimates, schedules, and resource plans.
• Building and maintaining Work Breakdown Structures (WBS).
• Ensuring compliance with utility standards, environmental regulations, and safety protocols.
• Participating in proposal development and business development efforts.
• Performing margin analysis, risk assessments, and contingency planning.
• Coordinating contract negotiations and stakeholder meetings.
• Developing and maintaining project plans including PMP, Safety Plans, Risk Management Plans, and QA/QC procedures.
• Collaborating with engineering teams specializing in distribution design.
• Partnering with Project Accounting to manage financials.
• Leading efforts in change management and scope control.
• Coordinating with technical managers on staffing for projects.
• Ensuring adherence to health, safety, and environmental standards.
• Providing reporting to clients and leadership on project performance.
• Managing project closeout activities.
• Staying current on power industry trends and initiatives.
• Exercising responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company resources.
• Performing additional responsibilities as required by business needs.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Civil Engineering, or related field.
• 7+ years of experience managing projects in power distribution, transmission & distribution (T&D), or utility engineering environments.
• Proven experience delivering feeder, distribution line, or grid modernization projects.
• Strong understanding of utility operations, power systems engineering, and electrical distribution design.
• Familiarity with NERC, IEEE standards, NEC codes, and utility regulatory requirements.
• Experience with EPC project delivery, capital programs, and infrastructure projects within the energy sector.
• Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Experience with project management tools (MS Project, Primavera P6).
• Ability to lead multidisciplinary teams.
• Knowledge of QA/QC processes, risk management, and safety compliance.

Requirements

• Master’s Degree in Engineering (Preferred).
• Professional Engineer (PE) license (Preferred).
• PMI Certification (PMP or CAPM) (Preferred).
