Summary

The Procurement Specialist I supports purchasing and supply management activities in alignment with Abbott's procurement strategies. This role works closely with internal customers and suppliers to ensure timely and cost-effective acquisition of goods and services. The position emphasizes customer service, compliance with business ethics, and continuous improvement in procurement processes.

Key Responsibilities

Assist with purchase order (PO) creation and conversion for assigned categories.
Support PO approvals within delegated authority limits.
Collaborate with internal teams to resolve operational issues and invoice discrepancies.
Maintain accurate documentation for purchases and ensure compliance with procurement policies.
Participate in supplier communication and help monitor performance metrics.
Contribute to cost-saving initiatives and process improvements under guidance from senior team members.
Assist in preparing bid documents and proposals for routine sourcing activities.
Provide administrative support for small-scale RFPs and procurement projects.
Educate internal stakeholders on existing procurement tools and processes.

Qualifications

Education: Bachelor's degree in Business, Supply Chain, Finance, or related field (or equivalent experience).
Experience: 0-2 years in procurement, purchasing, or supply chain preferred.

Skills:

Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint.
2 years of experience and College Degree
Experience as a Buyer or Procurement Specialist
Focus will be on Capital Equipment purchases, but no prior Capital experience required.

Preferred Qualifications

Familiarity with procurement systems (e.g., SAP).
Basic understanding of supplier management and contract administration.
