HR Specialist II

Job Description Purpose and Scope: University of Missouri Human Resources provide leadership in the planning, integration, and implementation of human resources services and programs for faculty and staff across all campuses and the health system. Collectively with campus colleagues, we serve as a strategic and trusted advisor and pursue continuous improvement through knowledge, collaboration and leadership. The UM HR Shared Administrative Service (SAS) team is responsible for providing support, education, and stewardship to University of Missouri faculty and staff, and manages the transactional administration of Human Resources processes. This position will have key responsibilities in the daily administration of human resources transactional processing of the University’s Retirement and Benefit plans carried out on behalf of the Board of Curators of the University of Missouri. While this position will focus on a specific area of responsibilities, overall, the following responsibilities are performed by a team of 5.0 FTE and serve as part of the overall Human Resources Service Delivery Team, serving over 50,000 active and separated employees, retirees, beneficiaries and dependents. Responsibilities Key focus responsibilities (60%) Provide customer service, problem solving and tier-two support to routine and non-routine inquiries related to administrative function with a focus on retiree Medicare support including but not limited to: Medicare eligibility, University retiree benefit plan offerings, claims assistance, annual enrollment, etc. Act as a liaison between retirees/dependents and various benefit plan administrators. Review, approve and process all retiree benefit plan change enrollment forms including mid-year changes, annual enrollment or newly Medicare eligible forms in PeopleSoft. Update and maintain such forms as needed. Utilize monthly reporting to create and mail Medicare Age-In packets to retirees and dependents who are newly Medicare eligible. Provide updates, communications and/or training to the tier-one support team (HR Service Center) regarding changes to Medicare that impact retirees or dependents. SAS Team shared responsibilities (20%) Monitor SAS assigned tickets and imaging workflows. Monitor and reply to incoming inquiries via the HR ticketing system (currently through Zendesk) providing timely and professional responses. Identify and elevate inquiries as appropriate to tier-three subject matter experts within the Centers of Expertise (retirement team, benefits team, etc.). Assist University of Missouri faculty/staff, new hires or newly retired employees with tier-two benefit enrollment inquiries. Process and route key documents through workflows within the University’s document imaging system (Perceptive Content). Including documents pertaining to retirement, benefits, FMLA, etc. Cross train and be prepared to support other SAS team members with their assigned key responsibilities as needed. Including but not limited to: Processing life events (benefit enrollments, benefit status changes, HSA & FSA changes, qualified medical child court ordered enrollment, etc.) Review retirement election forms for accuracy and completion. Initiate reach out to customers and ensure accurate and complete forms are returned timely to process pension benefits with awareness of payroll deadlines. Reporting and Evidence of Insurability (EOI) processing (15%) Process and complete corrections as applicable for various daily or weekly reports regarding eligibility and system errors to ensure accurate enrollments and transactional processing. Initiate ongoing communication with customers regarding errors or corrective actions and ensure corrected forms or documentation are collected and processed timely. Process EOI reviews for life insurance, short-term disability and long-term disability plan increases. Other duties as assigned (5%) As with all positions, involvement with other duties and responsibilities may be expected in order to support the mission and purpose of the University of Missouri. Shift Monday - Friday, 7:30am to 4:30pm Minimum Qualifications An associate's degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience and at least 1 year of experience from which comparable knowledge and skills can be acquired is necessary. Preferred Qualifications Experience in documentation or administrative processing.
