YOU As a Coordinator, Environmental Health & Safety Coordinator, you want to contribute to a safe, healthy, and environmentally responsible workplace by turning EH&S requirements into practical, well-organized daily activities. As the Coordinator, Environmental Health & Safety (EH&S), you will support the implementation and administration of site EH&S programs under the direction of the EH&S Manager. This role supports compliance activities, employee training, inspections, audits, incident investigations, data management, corrective-action tracking, emergency preparedness, and continuous improvement. You will work closely with employees, supervisors, and operational teams while promptly escalating significant risks, compliance concerns, and resource needs to the EH&S Manager. Success in this role requires strong organization, attention to detail, sound judgment, effective communication, and consistent follow-through. The EH&S Coordinator supports program execution and documentation; the EH&S Manager retains responsibility for site EH&S strategy, program ownership, regulatory direction, and overall EH&S performance. WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING (% OF TIME) EH&S Program Administration & Compliance Support (30%) Support the implementation and maintenance of EH&S programs, procedures, and management systems. Assist with regulatory compliance activities, required recordkeeping, permitting-related administration, inspections, and reporting. Maintain EH&S documents and records and help verify conformance with applicable federal, state, local, and company requirements. Bring potential gaps or significant concerns to the EH&S Manager for review and direction. Inspections, Audits & Hazard Identification (25%) Conduct routine workplace inspections, safety observations, environmental inspections, and program audits. Document hazards and potential compliance concerns, communicate findings to responsible supervisors and the EH&S Manager, and track corrective actions through closure. Assist with risk assessments and field verification of control measures. Training & Employee Engagement (15%) Coordinate EH&S training activities, maintain training records, schedule sessions, and support new-employee onboarding. Assist with safety committees, hazard reporting, employee observations, recognition activities, and continuous improvement initiatives. Provide clear, practical information and refer technical or policy questions to the EH&S Manager when appropriate. Incident Reporting & Investigation Support (15%) Assist with timely reporting, documentation, investigation, and follow-up for injuries, illnesses, near misses, property damage incidents, and environmental events. Participate in fact gathering and root cause analysis activities as directed. Track corrective and preventive actions and communicate overdue or unresolved items to the EH&S Manager. Performance Tracking & Data Management (10%) Maintain EH&S metrics, databases, dashboards, and records. Collect and organize safety and environmental performance data, identify apparent trends, and support management reporting. Assist the EH&S Manager with reports, presentations, audits, and regulatory submissions, subject to manager review and approval where required. Emergency Preparedness & Response Support (5%) Support emergency response planning, drills, evacuation exercises, fire protection activities, and business continuity preparations. Maintain assigned emergency equipment and training records and coordinate with internal and external response resources as directed by the EH&S Manager. DESIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE Education & Certifications Bachelor’s degree in occupational safety, environmental science, industrial hygiene, engineering, EH&S management, or a related field preferred. An associate degree combined with relevant EH&S experience may be considered. OSHA 30-Hour General Industry certification preferred, or the ability to obtain it within 3 months of hire. Occupational Health and Safety Technologist (OHST), Associate Safety Professional (ASP), or another relevant credential preferred. Experience Two to five years of EH&S experience in a manufacturing, distribution, warehouse, construction, or industrial environment preferred. Experience supporting inspections, audits, training, incident investigations, corrective actions, and compliance documentation preferred. Experience with ISO 14001, ISO 45001, environmental compliance programs, and EH&S management systems preferred. Technical Competencies Working knowledge of OSHA requirements and general workplace safety principles. Understanding of hazard recognition, risk assessment, ergonomics, industrial hygiene fundamentals, machine safeguarding, and energy control (LOTO). Familiarity with environmental compliance, waste management, and required recordkeeping. Ability to maintain accurate records, organize data, identify trends, and prepare clear reports. Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and the ability to learn EH&S software and reporting platforms. Professional Competencies Strong organizational, administrative, and time-management skills. Clear verbal and written communication skills and the ability to work effectively with employees at all organizational levels. Sound problem-solving skills, attention to detail, discretion, and consistent follow-through. Ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and work independently within established direction. Ability to collaborate with operations while appropriately escalating significant risks and compliance concerns. Essential Functions Essential functions include supporting EH&S program administration, conducting routine inspections, maintaining required records, coordinating training, assisting with incident reporting and investigations, tracking corrective actions, and supporting emergency preparedness under the direction of the EH&S Manager. TRAVEL REQUIRED Up to 10% of domestic travel may be required. WORK LOCATION This is a full-time position based in Gallatin, Tennessee. RELOCATION Relocation assistance is not available for this position. Work Environment: Work may involve exposure to noise, moving equipment, vibration, temperature extremes, dust, and other industrial conditions. Appropriate PPE is required in designated areas.
