The Role:
We are seeking a Senior Vehicle Motion Controls Integration Engineer to join our Vehicle Control Design team. This role is focused on the integration, validation, and deployment of autonomous/ADAS software stacks and the Vehicle Motion Control platform across simulation environments, instrumented development vehicles, and multiple electrical architectures.
The successful candidate will lead the technical execution required to connect AV and VMC control stacks with vehicle interfaces, plant models, real-time hardware, and validation environments. This position requires deep hands-on experience in model-based development, vehicle network integration, real-time systems, signal verification, controller gateway development, ECU emulation, and vehicle-level testing.
You will play a key role in building and validating scalable integration solutions that support virtual development, development vehicle integration and readiness, winter test preparation, current and future architecture integration, and demonstration of advanced vehicle motion control capabilities.
What You'll Do:
Lead AV-VMC integration across simulation, real-time, and in-vehicle environments using tools such as MATLAB/Simulink, CarSim, dSPACE, and related in-house toolchains
Develop, integrate, and validate wrapper models that encapsulate I/O, gateways, plant interfaces, and required control interfaces for current and future vehicle programs
Establish and verify communications between vehicles and real-time platforms including dSPACE - Scalexio and MABXIII
Configure and validate instrumentation and interfaces for development vehicles, including navigation, sensing, and vehicle network communication systems
Develop and deploy controller gateways for actuators, ADAS controllers, and ACP systems, including signal routing, scaling, timing alignment, and interface validation
Perform signal-level verification and end-to-end validation of controller interfaces, including range, rate, latency, integrity, and fault handling
Implement and validate selective ECU replacement and real-time ECU emulation solutions for development and test environments
Integrate AV control interfaces and AV-VMC middleware into vehicle platforms across current and future architectures for closed-loop operation
Support development and modification of dSPACE/ControlDesk layouts, dashboards, diagnostic tools, and MATLAB/CAN-based data analysis utilities
Execute and support vehicle, HiL, and simulation-based validation activities, including regression testing, root-cause analysis, and issue resolution with internal teams and external suppliers
Prepare vehicles and systems for winter testing through configuration validation, logging, diagnostics, and fallback strategy development
Support Milford Proving Ground integration activities, structured test events, and technical vehicle demonstrations
Document network architecture, configurations, integration results, verification findings, and readiness status for program milestones
Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications):
Vehicle Integration and Validation
Strong hands-on experience with vehicle integration, hardware-software bring-up, and full-vehicle validation
Experience executing verification and validation activities in vehicle, HiL, and simulation environments
Ability to troubleshoot complex cross-domain issues involving controllers, communications, instrumentation, and plant models
Experience supporting proving ground and winter test activities
Embedded Systems and Vehicle Networks
Strong experience with embedded system software and hardware integration in automotive applications
Deep knowledge of automotive communication protocols including CAN, LIN, Ethernet, serial communication, and OBD-II
Experience reading, interpreting, and modifying ARXML files and integrating CAN specifications into development environments
Hands-on capability in CAN gateway development and interface implementation using tools such as PCAN, Vector, or equivalent
Model-Based Development and Real-Time Systems
Proficiency in MATLAB/Simulink and model-based development workflows
Experience creating and validating wrapper models, interface models, and plant model integrations
Hands-on experience with dSPACE environments including Scalexio, ControlDesk, and related real-time toolchains
Ability to validate model execution on real-time targets and support closed-loop integration activities
Controls, Simulation, and Software Development
Experience integrating control algorithms into simulation and vehicle environments
Working knowledge of vehicle dynamics simulation tools such as CarSim or equivalent
Proficiency in Python, embedded C, and C++ for integration, analysis, tooling, and software implementation
Ability to develop analysis tools, diagnostics, dashboards, and automation utilities to support testing and issue resolution
Autonomous and Chassis Control Systems
Knowledge of autonomous driving, ADAS, chassis control, and vehicle motion control architectures
Experience integrating ECUs, sensors, actuators, and perception-related interfaces into vehicle control systems
Familiarity with AV control stack integration and middleware integration across current and future architectures
Safety and Engineering Rigor
Knowledge of automotive functional safety and cybersecurity processes including ISO 26262, ASIL concepts, and Threat Analysis and Risk Assessment (TARA) under ISO 21434
Experience applying disciplined engineering methods for reliability, validation, risk identification, and release readiness
Strong technical documentation, reporting, and communication skills
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Robotics, or a related field
