Aircraft Paint Technician

What you can expect as an Aircraft Paint Technician As a Paint Technician you will have the opportunity to transform ordinary aircraft surfaces into extraordinary finished products, painting anything from standard stripes and colors to highly detailed artwork. Key Responsibilities Proficient in spraying techniques and customizing chemical formulas to overcome environmental challenges and various substrates and conditions. Perform duties in compliance with FAA, OSHA, and EPA regulations. Create complete paint prep work, including chemical stripping and sanding on various substrates such as aluminum, composite, steel, and stainless steel. Apply tape masking of product and use body filler products and sanding techniques as needed. Complete aircraft paint detailing. Travel to off‑site locations as required. Communicate effectively in English (speak, write, read). Perform any other job‑related duties assigned by supervisor or management. Education and Requirements A high school diploma or equivalent. Vo‑tech school in paint or on‑the‑job experience is preferred but not required. A valid driver’s license approved for airline travel and/or a valid passport is ideal. Experience 5+ years in aviation painting operations. Professional Traits Self‑motivated, flexible, and comfortable working in a fast‑paced environment with specific deadlines and time constraints. Attends work every day as scheduled, including overtime and weekend assignments, and informs supervisor in advance if unable to work. Maintains reliable transportation to arrive to work each day. Adheres to Federal Aviation Administration guidelines and company safety rules. Maintains customer‑oriented work habits while assisting with painting base coat and layout. Physical & Mental Requirements Work on elevated platforms up to 40 feet with fall protection safety gear. Stand or sit for prolonged periods while performing repair tasks. Lift up to 70 lbs. Operate basic hand tools and ground equipment. Work in confined spaces. Understand and implement OSHA, haz‑mat, and other regulations and guidelines. Work logically with mechanical processes and communicate with others professionally. Working Conditions The majority of work will be accomplished in a heated hangar or shop area. Occasional work on aircraft on the ramp and varied positions in and around the aircraft may occur. Equipment Used Air equipment, polisher, and sander. Stripper pump, electrostatic paint guns, pressure posts, and laser level. Tugs, power carts, and other engine‑powered equipment. #J-18808-Ljbffr
