Job Description Job Title: Teacher Wage/Hour Status: Exempt-Professional Reports to: Principal Pay Grade: According to District’s Teacher Salary Schedule Dept./School: Assigned Campus Revised Date: March 27, 2017 Funding Source: 199 Local Funds District Primary Purpose: To assist and promote La Joya ISD in implementing a rigorous curriculum/instructional program that supports student success and achievement. Department Primary Purpose: To lead students toward the fulfillment of their potential for intellectual, emotional, and psychological growth and maturation. Qualifications Education/Certification: Bachelor’s degree from accredited university Valid Texas teaching certificate with required endorsements for subject and level assigned Experience/Knowledge: Knowledge of effective schools research, principles of accreditation standards, and Texas Education Agency requirements; teaching techniques and methodology; child development; special needs of exceptional learners. Responsibilities and Duties Meet and instruct assigned classes in the locations and times designated. Develop and maintain a classroom environment conducive to effective learning within district resources. Prepare for classes and provide written evidence of preparation upon supervisor request. Encourage students to set and maintain standards of classroom behavior. Employ a variety of instructional techniques and instructional media consistent with the physical limitations of the location and the needs and capabilities of student groups. Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities. Evaluate student progress on a regular basis. Maintain accurate, complete, and correct records as required by law, district policy, and administrative regulation. Assist in formulating, upholding, and enforcing school rules, administrative regulations, and Board Policy. Make provisions for being available to students and parents for educational-related purposes outside the instructional day when required or requested under reasonable terms. Attend and participate in faculty meetings. Cooperate with other staff members in planning instructional goals, objectives, and methods. Assist in the selection of books, equipment, and other instructional materials. Establish and maintain cooperative and professional relations with others. Work to establish and maintain open lines of communication with students and their parents concerning academic and behavioral progress. Provide for personal professional growth through reading workshops, seminars, conferences, and advanced coursework. Accept responsibilities for co-curricular activities as assigned when they do not interfere with primary teaching assignment. Working Conditions Mental Demands: Ability to communicate effectively verbally and written; interpret policy, procedures, and data; maintain emotional control under stress; interpret and implement TEA rules and regulations. Physical Demands/Environmental Factors: Occasional prolonged hours, regular physical demands of stooping, lifting, and other strenuous job performance.
