Legal Assistant
James F. Aspell, P.C. | Hartford, CT | Full-Time | $23/hr | 37.5 hrs/week
We're a busy workers' compensation and social security law firm looking for an organized, reliable Legal Assistant to keep our office running smoothly. If you're a detail-oriented people person who takes pride in doing things right, we'd love to meet you.
What You'll Do
- Open and close workers' compensation and social security files
- Request and track medical and social security records on behalf of paralegals
- Answer incoming calls from clients, attorneys, and medical facilities
- Schedule workers' compensation and social security consultations
- Organize and maintain paralegal and attorney caseloads and filing systems
- Pull and prep files for hearings
- Send workers' compensation documents to the Commission and defense attorneys
- Handle mailing and faxing of correspondence to clients, other firms, and medical facilities
What We're Looking For
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Comfortable with phones and regular contact with clients and outside parties
- Ability to juggle multiple tasks in a fast-paced legal environment
- Prior legal office experience a plus, but we're willing to train the right candidate
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
