L&D Nurse Manager
Clinical Management Consultants
This respected hospital is seeking an L&D Nurse Manager to guide a dedicated birthing team and support excellent patient care in a fast-paced environment. This Joint Commission-accredited, acute-care, not-for-profit hospital with around 200 licensed beds supports perinatal services through structured safety programs, interdisciplinary education, and continuous improvement. The L&D Nurse Manager reports to the Director of Women’s and Children’s Services and leads charge nurses, RNs, OB techs, and unit coordinators. The role partners closely with obstetric and midwifery providers, anesthesia, neonatology, perioperative leaders, and quality and education teams to meet goals. The L&D Nurse Manager will lead a unit with labor and delivery suites, dedicated OB operating rooms, and nearby mother–baby care. The energy on the unit is professional and supportive, with 24/7 OB anesthesia and in-house neonatal expertise working alongside engaged nurses and techs under the guidance of the L&D Nurse Manager. As the L&D Nurse Manager, responsibilities include competency validation, clinical education, mentoring, and adherence to AWHONN, ACOG, and Joint Commission standards while advancing perinatal safety and quality initiatives. Operationally, the position manages staffing and scheduling with acuity-based assignments, partners on budgets and supply stewardship, supports throughput and bed management, and maintains survey readiness. The L&D Nurse Manager is expected to step in on the floor when needed, lead by example during surges, reallocate resources to keep care safe, and build trust quickly through clear communication and steady leadership.
