Project Engineer -(Heavy Civil & Transportation Infrastructure Projects - Southern California, USA)

Protecnium is an international consulting firm specializing in engineering and technical services ( We are currently looking for a Project Engineer to join our team for heavy civil and transportation infrastructure projects in Southern California, USA (on-site position).

-Project: Highway, Bridge, Roadway, and Transportation Infrastructure Projects

-Estimated duration of the position: 24 months -In general, when the project ends, we try to place the employee in other projects to give him/her continuity.

-Summary: The Project Engineer will provide technical and administrative support to project management teams, coordinating engineering documentation, subcontractors, field operations, and project controls. The role will be involved in the day-to-day management of major transportation and heavy civil infrastructure projects throughout Southern California.

-Main Responsibilities

• Manage RFIs and submittals.
• Support project documentation and engineering records.
• Coordinate engineering activities between project stakeholders.
• Assist with scheduling, planning, and cost tracking activities.
• Interface with field teams, subcontractors, and project management.
• Support quality assurance and safety compliance initiatives.
• Participate in project meetings and progress reviews.
• Assist in monitoring project performance and contractual requirements.
• Support construction operations through technical coordination and problem-solving.
• Ensure documentation is maintained accurately and in accordance with project procedures.

-Working hours: Monday to Friday - 10 working hours (including a 1-hour lunch break)

Requirements

-Requirements

• Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Civil Engineering.
• Minimum of 5-8 years of experience in civil infrastructure or heavy civil construction projects.
• Experience in highways, roadway improvements, bridge structures, transportation infrastructure, or similar projects is highly desirable.
• Knowledge of project controls, scheduling, documentation management, and construction processes.
• Experience managing RFIs, submittals, and technical documentation.
• Strong organizational and communication skills.
• Ability to coordinate multidisciplinary teams and subcontractors.
• English level: C1 minimum.
• Local, Spanish, Mexican, or international profiles will be considered.
