Assistant Chief Nursing Officer

Position Summary The Assistant Chief Nursing Officer (ACNO) is a member of the Hospital Executive Team. Under the direction of the Chief Nursing Officer (CNO), this position supports the integration, coordination and direction of nursing and patient care within the overall operation of the hospital. The ACNO supports nursing and patient care to ensure delivery of high-quality, cost‑effective health care consistent with the mission, vision, and values of Universal Health Services and in accordance with government regulation, licensing and accreditation requirements. The ACNO participates in strategic planning and contributes to institutional goals, promotes a culture of Service Excellence and provides interim leadership in the absence of the CNO. Essential Job Duties People: Creates an environment which supports employee development and teamwork to deliver compassionate patient care. Service: Creates systems, processes and care standards to support the delivery of patient care in a safe, fiscally sound environment. Quality: Provides accessible, timely, efficient, cost‑effective care by utilizing evidence‑based practice and continuous performance improvement. Finance: Supports an environment of financial stability to achieve the UHS mission and strategy. Qualifications Education: BSN required, MSN preferred. Licensure: Current nursing license or permit in the state of employment. Experience: Minimum of 5 years of progressive nursing management experience in an acute care setting. Knowledge: Demonstrated knowledge of nursing clinical practices, effective management and supervisory practices, and written and verbal communication skills. Interpersonal Skills: Ability to foster collaboration, plan, direct, and monitor activities, and demonstrate leadership that promotes mutual respect and professionalism. Technical Skills: Proficiency with common computer‑based applications (email, word processing, databases). Travel: Occasional U.S. travel to conferences and UHS management meetings.
