Lead Groundskeeper

Groundskeeping Lead - Alabama A&MAramark Facilities Management is hiring a Groundskeeping Lead to help maintain the appearance and safety of the grounds at Alabama A&M University in Huntsville, Alabama. In this hands-on landscaping and grounds maintenance leadership role, you'll lead a small crew, complete quality inspections, and ensure campus grounds are maintained to a high standard. Daily work includes mowing, trimming, planting, leaf removal, landscape upkeep, and operating commercial groundskeeping equipment. This position is ideal for an experienced landscaper, groundskeeper, or lawn maintenance professional who takes pride in detail-oriented work and can motivate a team to meet weekly goals. The schedule is typically Monday through Friday from 6:00 AM to 3:00 PM, with occasional Saturdays as needed. If you're dependable, safety-focused, and enjoy working outdoors, we'd love to hear from you.Job ResponsibilitiesLead and direct a small groundskeeping crew to complete weekly landscaping and campus beautification goalsInspect completed work to ensure appearance, quality, and safety standards are metPerform landscaping and grounds maintenance tasks including mowing, trimming, edging, planting, weeding, fertilizing, leaf removal, and debris cleanupMaintain the appearance of sidewalks, parking lots, walkways, athletic areas, and campus common spacesOperate landscaping equipment such as commercial mowers, weed eaters, hedge trimmers, blowers, sprayers, chainsaws, and other power toolsDrive trucks, utility vehicles, tractors, and equipment used in grounds maintenance operationsAssist with seasonal duties including storm cleanup, salting, snow removal, and ice management when requiredPerform routine inspections, maintenance, and minor repairs on groundskeeping equipment and toolsTrain and support new team members on proper work methods, equipment usage, and safety proceduresMonitor landscaping conditions and identify opportunities to improve efficiency, appearance, and service qualityFollow all safety guidelines, PPE requirements, and company proceduresReport equipment issues, hazards, and maintenance concerns to management promptlyWork outdoors in varying weather conditions throughout the yearQualifications Required2-3 years of landscaping, groundskeeping, lawn maintenance, horticulture, or related outdoor maintenance experiencePrevious experience leading a crew, assigning work, or overseeing daily tasksValid driver's license with an acceptable driving recordExperience operating commercial landscaping equipment and power toolsStrong attention to detail and commitment to high-quality workAbility to communicate clearly with team members and supervisorsReliable attendance and punctuality with the ability to report to work on time dailyAbility to work independently with limited supervisionAbility to lift, push, pull, bend, walk, and stand for extended periodsAbility to follow safety policies and wear required PPEPreferredExperience maintaining college campuses, parks, municipal properties, or large commercial landscapesBasic knowledge of landscape design, plant care, irrigation, or turf maintenanceExperience conducting quality inspections or grounds auditsExperience operating tractors and attachments used for grounds maintenanceAbout AramarkRooted in service and united by our purpose, we strive to do great things for each other, our partners, our communities, and our planet.
