INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY MANAGER I - INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY DIVISION / INFORMATION SECURITY AND PRIVACY OFFICE/ SACRAMENTO HEADQUARTERS
The reporting location for this position will be the Sacramento Headquarters. Reporting location is determined based on the location of the top candidate. This position works under the administrative direction of the Information Technology Manager II.
The Privacy Officer will ensure fulfillment of compliance and privacy programs. This includes but is not limited to Information Security and Privacy Program Policy Compliance, PayCard Industry Compliance Strategy and oversight activities, Privacy & Disclosure Review Activities in partnership with the eDiscovery & Incident Response Group Lead, managing the Technology Recovery Coordinator and Policy & Privacy Specialists, Contractors and Students in the Information Security & Privacy Office, Headquarters, and all of the Department's 288 field locations. Duties include management, supervision, and regulatory compliance for PII protected data, PayCard industry partners, vendor data privacy reviews, training staff, and monitoring adherence to federal information processing standards, national institute of standards and technology special publications, as well as ensuring integration of privacy elements and interleaving the enterprise data classification program into preventative mitigations for the enterprise environment.

Desirable Qualifications In addition to evaluating each candidate's relative ability, as demonstrated by quality and breadth of experience, the following factors will provide the basis for competitively evaluating each candidate:
IAPP membership or extensive working knowledge thereof is very highly encouraged as the CIPP is the professional certification of choice for a Privacy Professionals and is desired to be held within 24 months of hire. CISSP/CISM certifications are an acceptable substitute. Knowledge of technology structure and advanced understanding of core networking, information security, and project management is essential for the incumbent to succeed in all assigned duties.

To be appointed you must satisfy one of the following requirements:

- Transfer Eligibility - Must have current employment with the State of California in the same classification or in a classification that is comparable. If in a different classification, you must meet the minimum qualifications (see Minimum Qualifications section and associated links above).
- Reinstatement Eligibility - Previously obtained permanent employment with the State of California in the same classification or in a classification that is comparable. If in a different classification, you must meet the minimum qualifications (see Minimum Qualifications section and associated links above).
In some special circumstances, candidates who meet the Minimum Qualifications for the position, but who do not have one of the types of eligibility listed above, may be hired. However, this is rare, and the preferred method of appointment is through eligibility as described above.
