Job Description
The Staff Writer’s main responsibility is to produce written content for Insight’s print magazine and website. They are responsible for writing 2-3 articles per volume and online-specific content when necessary. Articles will range from 400 to 1,000 words, depending on the crafted story. This position requires a strict adherence to deadlines set by the Editor-in-Chief and Copy Editor. The Staff Writer will also help ensure that volunteer writers adhere to the selected theme. The Staff Writer will directly work with the Copy Editor to improve their written work and should therefore be willing to make any necessary changes throughout the revising/editing processes.
All staff members are expected to attend weekly team meetings to discuss updates, announcements, etc. to uphold solid and effective communication amongst the Insight Magazine team.
This job application asks that 2 written work samples be combined into one document and submitted.
Responsibilities
Create textual content for Insight’s print magazine and website
Revise written articles based on feedback from the Copy Editor and/or EIC
Mitigate spelling and grammatical errors found in drafts with the help of the Copy Editor
Adhere to strict deadlines
Attend weekly staff meetings
Distribute Insight Magazines

Candidate is enrolled at the University of Nevada, Reno
Candidate has an understanding of Google Documents and Google Drive
Candidate has knowledge of AP Citation Style
Candidate has the ability to work nights and weekends
