Industrial Mechanic
The Maintenance Mechanic is responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing machinery, equipment, and facilities within a steel fabrication environment. This role ensures production equipment operates safely, efficiently, and with minimal downtime.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Perform routine preventive maintenance on fabrication equipment including CNC machines, presses, shears, brakes, saws, and material handling systems
- Troubleshoot and repair mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical issues
- Diagnose equipment malfunctions and implement effective corrective actions
- Assist with installation, setup, and relocation of machinery and equipment
- Maintain welding machines, forklifts, cranes, and overhead hoists
- Perform basic fabrication and welding repairs as needed
- Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, manuals, and technical documents
- Maintain accurate maintenance records and service logs
Qualifications
Required Skills and Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required; technical training or trade school preferred
- 3+ years of maintenance experience in a manufacturing or steel fabrication environment preferred
- Strong mechanical aptitude with working knowledge of hydraulics and pneumatics
- Basic electrical troubleshooting skills (motors, sensors, controls)
- Welding and metal fabrication skills strongly preferred
- Ability to operate hand tools, power tools, and diagnostic equipment
- Ability to work independently and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment
- Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills
- Experience with MS Office programs
Preferred Skills/Certifications (Not Required)
- Welding certification
- Forklift or crane certification
- Industrial maintenance certification
- Experience with COAST maintenance software
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, and climb for extended periods
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs
- Ability to work around moving machinery, noise, heat, and industrial environments
